Chapter 127-1
Raven’s POV
Honestly, I don’t know what the hell I was thinking, but when the door opened, I threw my grandmother’s boot that was in my hand straight at the person’s head that was entering the front door. Surprisingly, her boot hit them dead square in the forehead, taking the person by surprise, but the intruder wasn’t the only one that was surprised.
“Chase? What the hell are you doing here?” I asked as soon as I realized that it was him, while I watched him begin to massage the middle of his forehead where I had nailed him with her boot.
“I could ask you the same question.” He says back to me, but just as he does, a half–asleep Jacob emerges from my bedroom, catching Chase’s attention.

Shockingly, a low growl rumbles from Chase’s chest, taking me off guard, because I didn’t think he of all the brothers would be the jealous type, especially when it came to me. Knowing that Chase was the least of the three brothers that would listen to me, I knew that I needed to remove Jacob right now from the equation before Chase lost his temper.
Turning to Jacob, I said to him, “Everything is fine. You can go back to bed, it’s just Chase.”
Jacob’s eyes moved between Chase and I, and it was clear that Jacob could see the feral side of Chase wanting to rip his head off for being here with me. I knew that it must be more his wolf than himself, because no way in hell would he truly give two shits who I was with.
If anything, Chase would be ecstatic, shipping me off on the first plane back to California, so that he could have his way of taking Jessica as his mate, and convincing his brothers to do the same. Honestly, I don’t know why all of a sudden, I even cared what he thought of me and who he wanted to be with, but at that moment, I felt a pinch of jealousy just with the mere thought of him being with her.
Jesus, what the hell was going on with me? I must have hit my head harder than I had thought, and I must be having delayed reactions to it.
“Yeah, Jacob, everything is fine. It’s just me, Chase, her mate.” Chase now says sarcastically through gritted teeth to Jacob, emphasizing on the mate, pulling me back to the reality that he is a total ass, and making me wonder what the hell I was thinking about being jealous of him with Jessica
“Chase!” I said, scolding him for being so rude to Jacob, especially since Jacob was innocent in all of this.
“Um, I think I am going to go back to bed, and hope when I wake up the next time that this was all a bad dream. No bulky tan muscles are worth my life. He’s all yours.” Jacob finally says in response, as he gives me an apologetic look, before he throws his hand up in the air and turns like a diva on his heels, rushing back to my bedroom, leaving me alone to deal with Chase.
“What the bloody hell?” Chase asks with a confused look on his face, clearly taken off guard by Jacob’s response to him.
I wanted to chuckle seeing the stumped look on his face, but I knew now wasn’t the time. So instead. I moved to the couch where I had laid my pillow and blanket and began to make my makeshift bed, while I asked Chase, “Why exactly are you here?”

Chase stood there in silence watching me make my makeshift bed for the night, clearly seeing that Jacob and I weren’t sleeping in the same bed, nor even the same room, taking away all his jealousy at that moment, along with lowering the testosterone in the room. When I turned back to look at him, I could see that the tension was no longer in his posture and that he was just standing there watching what I was doing, but he still hadn’t answered me about why he was here.

Chapter 127-2
“Earth to Chase.” I said as I now waved my hand in front of his face, making him blink a few times, before repeated my question to him.
Finally, he shakes his head, before he asks me, “Is Jacob…” but trails off not finishing his question like he couldn’t say the word.
Knowing exactly what he was going to ask me, just plain out say to him, “Yes. And now that that is established, what the hell are you doing here?”
Crossing my arms over my chest, I waited for him to give me an answer, but the answer he eventually gav me, I wasn’t expecting.
“I came here in the hopes of trying to figure out who dumped yourgrandmother’s body here.”
“Oh.” That is all I said back to him, as I uncrossed my arms from my chest, while my shoulders slumped now, feeling guilty for assuming the worst from him. Hell, I honestly didn’t even have an inkling of why he would be here, but his reasoning for why would never have crossed my mind.
Seeing that he had taken me by surprise with his answer, he shut the front door behind him, before he stepped toward my grandmother’s recliner chair, taking a seat in it. I looked at him with a baffled look on my face, wondering what the hell he was doing, but then he began to reach into the crevices of the chair, as if he was looking for anything that may have slipped into them.
Unfortunately, his hands only pulled out the remote control for the television, and a few crumbs of what looked like cookies she may have been eating from the/cookie jar. Other than that, there wasn’t a damn thing to find, leaving him empty–handed.
Getting up from the chair, he placed the remote on the small coffee table, before he turned back, looking around the recliner chair, all while I just stood there watching him, wondering what exactly he could be looking for. From where I stood, everything looked to be in its normal place, but then again, I rarely spent any time in the living room.
Between school, homework, and my friends, I was rarely home, and I now was feeling guilty for not spending time with my grandmother. If I was being honest, i really never had a grandmother figure in my life, and after losing my parents, I honestly was scared to get close to anyone else like that in fear of
r losing them too, which was exactly what happened.
“What exactly are you looking for?” I asked him as I moved around the coffee table towards him and my grandmother’s chair, wondering if I might be of some assistance in helping him find whatever it was that he was looking for.
Shaking his head, he says to me, “I am not sure, but I am sure when I find it, I will know.”
My eyes began to scan the area, as Chase began to look at the small end table beside her chair. Placing. my knee on her chair, I looked to the opposite side, and something shiny on the floor slightly beside the chair caught my eye. Leaning over the arm of the chair, I reach for the shiny object, but as I move to reach for it, the damn chair lets loose, reclining backwards, sending me flying headfirst.
A scream barely left my lips before I felt Chase’s hand wrap around my waist, saving me from an embarrassing mishap of heading headfirst over the back of the chair. Turning my head slightly to look

back at Chase, I now found myself in a different kind of situation, one that might be slightly even more embarrassing, as my lips were now only an inch from his
His cool, minty scented breath teased my desires, all while his warm hand tightened against my abdomen, sending a shockwave of lust straight to my core, like a damn dog in heat. My eyes remained fixated on his, while I bit my bottom lip, trying to hold back these crazy ass urges I was now having towards him.
My eyes moved slightly, as Chase’s tongue slipped through the slight part of his lips, gliding it ever so slowly across his top lip. If he was trying to torture me, he was definitely doing one hell of a job, as I felt like I was about ready to lose all my restraint with him.
I don’t even know what my deal was with him, as he looked pretty much the same as his two brothers, but in the back of my head, I knew exactly why I was so intrigued by him. It was the fact that he was with Jessica, and that he wasn’t mine. You know the saying we always want what we can’t have. Well, right here was a prime example of that.
As I continued to stare deep into his eyes, I released my lip from between my teeth, now wishing that he might just say the hell with it, and kiss me. But that wish, or should I say dream, was short lived, when I heard Jacob scream, “Get off her!” Before I spotted him out of the corner of my eye, charging towards us,
with Lexi’s damn taser in his hand.
Before I knew what was happening, I could feel a jolt of electricity hit me hard, making me clinch tightly onto Chase’s shoulders, while Chase’s own hand tightened around my abdomen. A growl rumbled from within Chase, as he now held me tightly to his chest, and I now feared for Jacob’s safety, because I had no control over what Chase was going to do to him once he released the button.
