Chapter 178-1

Raven’s POV

My eyes drifted away from Jacob, as my hand remained on the warmth of my collar bone, while I stared blankly ahead of me, before I continued to recall exactly what had transpired last night between Cash and myself. My mind seemed to be stuck in the intimacy of it all, as it kept replaying the same moments, making me wonder why I couldn’t see past a certain point.

Frustration, to say the least, was taking over, as I felt like there was some kind of mental block happening in my own damn head, making my hands move to my head as it began to pound ever so slightly from me trying to probe my way through it. It seemed the more I tried to push through the barrier wall that somehow lived in my memories, it pushed right back, leaving me to wonder how and why it existed, but then a series of howls from the rogues outside made me realize exactly what was going on.

Those howls instantly drew Jacob from my bedside to the window, while my eyes narrowed as I turned to look in that direction, wondering now what the hell the rogues were up to. But I didn’t have to wonder long before Jacob asked out loud, Why the hell are they all just standing there?Making me jump out of the bed, dragging the sheet along with me, while I rushed to the window to see what he was talking about.

All lined up across the backyard, the rogues stood in their wolf form, as they stared directly towards the house. At first, I thought they were blankly staring, waiting for one of us to come outside, but then my eyes moved in their direct line of sight to see that Cash was standing outside on the back porch in his human form staring straight back at them. It honestly looked as if they were in some kind of standoff, worrying me that a repeat of what happened at the cabin was about to happen again.

Turning, I desperately began to look around the room for my clothes, knowing that I needed to get outside by Cash’s side before something went down. Even though I knew that Cash’s wolf was strong, there was no way in hell it was strong enough to take on all the rogues that had gathered in the backyard.

Finally finding my clothes scattered on the floor by the bed, I carelessly let the sheet fall to the floor, as I began to frantically pull my pants on, before grabbing my shirt and rushing out of the bedroom half dressed. I could hear Jacob calling after me, but I didn’t stop my mad dash outside, as I finished pulling my shirt over my head, before I began to descend the stairs, hoping that I could get to Cash before it was too late.

As I raced down a long narrow hallway that I was sure led to the rear of the house, I came upon Carl and the doctor casually sitting in the kitchen at a table. Neither of them looked as

if they knew something was about to go down right outside these walls. But when their eyes met with mine, the look of concern washed over their faces as I rushed past them heading for the back door.

Through the small windowpane at the top of the door, I could roughly see Cash’s back facing me, making me thankful that he was still on the porch and that I wasn’t too late to help him. As my hand moved to open the door, I was stopped when I heard Mazie’s voice from behind me saying, I think its best if you let Cash deal with them.

Peering over my shoulder, I watched Mazie with a plate of food in her hand carelessly taking an empty seat at the kitchen table alongside Carl and the doctor, looking as if nothing had happened to her yesterday. Her wounds that had looked severe last night, weren’t even visibly noticeable at this distance, and as I watched her moving with so much ease, it was clear that she was no longer in pain.
