Chapter 214-2
Once again, a ferocious growl came from Liam, this time before he tossed his grandfather across the room like a rag doll, allotting him the same hospitality that he had given Lexi.
Seeing this, Raven’s hands clung to my shirt as I helped her to sit, while her eyes looked over my shoulder at her grandfather’s body, now slumped against the wall. “I have you. You’re safe.” I said, trying to comfort her, as I pulled her tightly into my arms hoping to shield her, knowing that it was too soon for her to be exposed to this after almost losing her.
As Raven’s body began to relax in my embrace, I turned to see Liam extending a hand to Lexi, which confused the living hell out of me, as we both knew she was the only reason why we had been locked inside this room together. But Liam had told his grandfather pretty much that he was nothing like him, and he was proving that by showing Lexi compassion, as he helped her to her feet, with no regard to how she had previously treated us.
“Are you okay?” Liam asked her, as he moved to look at her other hand, but Lexi was quick to retract that hand to behind her back, away from his reach, while she said to him, “It’s nothing. I’ll be okay.”
No longer did she speak, the sound of muffled calls for help had us all turning to see the Alpha Rogue King trying to use his cane to get to his feet, but he was clearly too weak to stand on his own. Seeing this, Lexi pulled her hand from Liam’s hold, and raced across the room, kneeling by the Rogue Alpha King’s side.
Without hesitation, he reached for Lexi, grabbing tightly a hold of her hand, and without regards to her wincing out in pain, the Alpha Rogue King used her body to help himself to stand. Once standing, he once again pushed her to the side, disregarding her like she meant nothing to him.
But this time. Lexi had caught herself before she fell to the floor, and she thankfully took a step back, leaning her body against the frame of the door. For a split second, I thought maybe she was finally going to bolt, but instead she stood there looking around the room at all of us, as she looked like she was contemplating something.
Raven’s grip on my shirt at that moment tightened, and I looked down to see that she had turned her head. Looking in the direction she was facing, I now saw what had her scared.
What I could only explain as a black mist started to form around her grandfather, but that wasn’t the only thing that now had me worried. It was actually the feeling like I couldn’t breathe, as the air in the room felt like it was being sucked out.
As I struggled to take my next breath. I began to panic as I tried to get to my feet with Raven

in my arms, knowing I had to get her out of here, while her grandfather’s attention was solely on Liam. But as I barely took my first step, I realized that I may have underestimated the Alpha Rogue King’s strength, when I fell with Raven in my arms to the floor, too weak now to
move.
Protectively holding Raven close to my chest, my eyes moved to Liam, and then to Lexi, as I silently pleaded to her to save her friend’s life, knowing that I had once again failed her.
