Chapter 220

Raven’s POV

+25 Points

In complete and utter fear, just stood there, too afraid to move, with my eyes now squinting so tightly together that my tears were being wrung from them. I found myself praying to God that the low growl was just a figment of my imagination, but as the feel of warmth tickles the back of my damn neck, I know that he is directly behind me.

Balling my hands into fists by my sides, I do everything in my power right now not to piss my pants, as I knew the one thing I feared the most right now in this world stood directly behind me, and by the looks of things, I was the only one somehow coherent. It wasn’t my grandfather’s wolf that I was afraid of per se, but the darkness that encompasses him that almost stole my life only a few hours ago.

Unfortunately, I realized through the silence that there wasn’t a single sole coming to my rescue, forcing me to come to the conclusion that I was the only one left standing to stop this madness, but I had no clue what the hell I needed to do. Thus far, I had gone with my gut instinct, and well, at first, it had panned out for me, but lately, things haven’t been going so smoothly for me.

I was now beginning to believe what happened in West Virginia was all beginner’s luck, because nothing since then has gone in my favor. I mean, other than the fact that my mates have all marked me, and I had broken the curse on my grandmother’s side that would have eventually killed me, but none of that really matters if, in the end, I end up being killed by my grandfather’s damn evil side that is now lingering literally over my head right now.

With my chin now slightly raised, I could see the darkness now hovering directly over me like a damn dark cloud in a midnight summer storm that was collecting a force of dark energy to rain down on me. For a second, I wondered what the hell it was waiting for, but then I realized there was some kind of weird ass glow that wasn’t thunder or lightening, forming right around my body.

Slowly, I raised my hands, opening my fists right in front of my face, as I stared in complete awe of the brilliant light, radiating from the palms of my hands to the tips of my fingers, as if my body was somehow producing some kind of forcefield. Of course, my imagination began to run off with the many possibilities of what was happening to me, but there was this little voice in the back of my head telling me that this light was the hidden cure to the curse that plagued my other side.

In actuality, it made sense that light would prevail over the darkness, as it has been written in our history, clear back to biblical times. Even knowing this, I was scared to put my theory to the test, causing me to just stand there, for what felt like forever, contemplating whether or not I had the balls to stand up to it alone.

But the more I stood here, the steadier my hands became, as something inside of me shifted, causing all my doubts and worries to slowly wash away. In their place, I felt a rush of strength begin to course through my veins, and as that feeling began to flow throughout the entirety of my body, a warm fuzzy feeling began to take over.

Closing my eyes, I took a couple of deep breaths, as I wondered what the hell this new feeling could possibly be, but as my heart began to race, it didn’t take long for me to realize what was about to happen. Immediately, I braced myself for the pain, squinting my eyes so tightly together that it wrinkled my nose, as my hands moved back to my sides, bawling into fists. But as my body completely tensed up, doing the opposite of what it should be doing, I felt the familiar surge of energy rush from my head to my toes

before it once again exploded, leaving me weak in the knees like before.

Thankfully, this time, I somehow maintained my balance, as my body gracefully fell forward, landing precisely on my front paws. Unfortunately, that second burst of energy took a lot out of me, as I haven’t quite yet recovered from my fast little episode. But thankfully, that didn’t matter, because my little burst of energy had somehow awakened my mates and my brother, as I watched them all getting to their feet, before their attention turned towards me.

For a second, I thought about turning around and facing whatever was still left of my grandfather and his darkness, but then I told myself that I had played with fire long enough. This time, knowing when to get my ass out of Dodge, I took off running straight towards everyone, not even thinking about looking back, until I knew I was safe.

But as they were now all running towards me, and I thought that I was just a few feet away from safety, my wolf veered to the right, taking me off guard, as we now headed straight towards Liam’s wolf. I honestly had no clue what the hell she was up to, but it was clear that she knew something that I didn’t, and right now, all I care about was that we all got out of this alive.

Since it seemed like she knew what she was doing, I decided to let her take the driver’s seat, praying that I wasn’t once again making a horrible mistake. But as we neared Liam’s wolf, I realized very quickly what the hell she was up to, as another surge of energy began to flow through my body.

My heart instantly began to race, this time not from the adrenaline of what was to come from me, but from the fact that I figured out that my wolf was now planning on blasting my brother to smithereens. Instantly, I tried to take back control of the steering wheel, but had no luck, as my wolf clearly had her mind set on destroying every ounce of darkness that got in her way.

Mentally, I tried to reach her, pleading with her to stop, as I quickly explained to her that he was on our side, but even after hearing my pleads, she remained running on course. Not able to watch, I closed my eyes just right before I felt another surge of energy flow from my head to my toes, knowing that any second I could possibly be responsible for my only sibling’s death.

But as this surge exploded from within me, it felt totally different than the first two, making me open my eyes just as it hit Liam straight in his wolf’s chest, right over his heart.
