Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 433

Chapter 221

Raven’s POV

Holy shit.” I thought to myself, as I watched a bolt of white lightening stream straight from my wolf to Liam’s, hitting him dead in the chest.

My eyes widened as I watched Liam’s wolf being thrown back a couple of feet, looking as if it had bounced off an invisible wall. But it wasn’t the sight of his wolf that had my eyes now glued on him, but the mist of darkness that was evicted from his body, from my surge of power hitting him right over his heart.

Just like our grandfather’s darkness, Liam’s darkness was now visible to me, as it now hovered in midair directly behind his wolf’s body. Unlike our grandfather’s, Liam’s was minimal, almost as if he had tried to starve it over the years from maturing. Unfortunately, even doing that, it somehow survived, but not for long, as my wolf now had her path set straight towards Liam’s wolf.

With my eyes now wide open and locked on Liam’s wolf, which was now frozen in midair, I wanted more than ever to take back control of my wolf, stopping her before she could hurt him. But knowing that she had me completely shut out, I knew there was no way I was going to take back over the driver’s seat until she got what she wanted.

Unable to stop her, she continued to run at full force towards him, before leaping into the air, extending her paws out wide, sailing high above the ground. But thankfully, I realized that her intention was never to hurt Liam or his wolf, as we sailed right over his head, slamming right into his lingering darkness.

Honestly, I was scared to death when I realized what the hell she was doing, and I was beyond tense, remembering back to just a few hours ago, and how the darkness had held me hostage, feeding off my inner weakness. But my wolf at that moment seemed to have a mind of her own, and she didn’t give two shits that she had me on the verge of an actual panic attack, as she sailed us right into it.

I wanted so desperately to close my eyes and hide somewhere deep inside my wolf where it couldn’t find me, but if I did that then I would be allowing it to win. I knew from my last encounter with it that it fed on fear, and I knew that I couldn’t allow my brother’s darkness to grow stronger because of me. I’d be damned if I came all this way to die at the hands of something that couldn’t even solidify itself.

As if I somehow won my subconscious battle of mind over matter, my fear of the darkness dwindled away, and in its place, I began to feel a determination to eliminate this evilness and its curse. With that thought, I did just that, while a newfound strength quickly took over me, and as the feeling that I could take on the world encompassed my thoughts, I began to feel that warm fuzzy feeling once again rush through me.

Before I even knew what the hell was happening, another surge of energy rushed through my body, but this time there was no warning before it exploded from within me, lighting the night sky like fireworks. A light jolt proceeded after the explosion, as my wolf landed safely just a few feet behind Liam’s wolf, finally coming to a halt. Quickly, my wolf turned around to assess the aftermath of her work, and when she did, my eyes landed on Liam’s wolf being released from his frozen state.

Roughly, his wolf landed on all four paws, as he leaves out a low growl, turning to face my wolf. Those red glowing eyes of his that have haunted my dream since the day in the girlslocker room, now began to flicker, like he was shortcircuiting, until they completely fizzled out, leaving his eyes now glowing the exact same color as my mates.

For a second, I stared at his wolf in awe, thinking how ironic the similarities between his wolf and Chance’s were. Honestly, if it wasn’t for his wolf being slightly larger, there was no way in this world that I would be able to tell them apart.

Thinking about it, it reminded me of the way that I was able to distinguish Cash’s and Chase’s wolves, making me raise an eyebrow as I stared at him, now questioning who his father could possibly be. But unfortunately, once again, didn’t have time for trivial questions like that, as a sound of a howl now echoed in our direction, making both of us turn to see all three of my mates struggling to keep my grandfather’s wolf at bay.

Luckily, the darkness that was once hovering over my grandfather’s wolf was no longer present, leaving him to fend for himself, but I had to now wonder what the hell happened to it. But right now, I guess that was the least of everyone’s worries, as they were now trying to subdue my grandfather’s wolf.

As if Liam took the howl as a call for help, he took off without even a second of hesitation to join my mates, as all three of them were now on my grandfather’s wolf’s back, trying to make him surrender without taking his life. There was no doubt in my mind that his life would have been ended by now if it wasn’t for the fact that he was my biological grandfather, but after the way he had treated me, I honestly didn’t care to have him as a part of my life.

Standing there now out of harm’s way, I watched as my brother joined my three mates, adding just enough horsepower to make my grandfather’s wolf’s legs finally give out from underneath their weight, forcing him to surrender. As my grandfather shifted back to his human state, Lexi finally reappeared out of nowhere with a black robe, gently laying it over my grandfather’s shoulders, as my mates and my brother maintained their positions surrounding him. But as Lexi moves to help my grandfather stand, I quickly realize that there is something majorly off with him.

Barely able to take his weight on her shoulders, Liam quickly shifts back into his human form, moving to Lexi’s aide. Sweeping his arm under our grandfather’s armpits, I watched him easily lift his body from the ground, before Lexi reached out, touching Liam’s chest. The three of them disappeared immediately from my sight, but I knew, because of my grandfather’s failing health, they were no longer a threat.

All three of my mates at that moment turned their attention towards me, before they simultaneously shifted into their human forms, as they all just stared in my direction in complete silence with what looked like hunger in their eyes. For a moment, I wondered what the hell they were looking at, but then I realized that I was now standing in the middle of the damn woods butt ass naked.
