Chapter 223-1

Chase’s POV

Cash and I had immediately returned to the Alpha Rogue King’s estate, as I no longer had an ounce of trust in Lexi. She had fooled me into believing that she had Raven’s best interests first and

foremost, but now I’m not quite so sure of that.

From my new perspective, I now can see a totally different plan of hers had been in play, but luckily for me, Liam and my brothers had shown up to stop it all. I had clearly effed up everything, even what little relationship I still had left with my brothers now seemed to be ruined. But even though Cash had spoken his two senses to me about that, he was being the bigger person, by putting our

differences right now aside.

It was now evident that this whole thing was much larger than what I was led to believe, and I could see that I never would have been able to handle it on my own. I seriously was a fool for thinking that Raven’s grandfather had good intentions, because at the end of the day, he was still a

damn Alpha Rogue.

“Sorry Alpha, we can’t let you through.” One of the Alpha Rogue King’s men said as he and another guard stepped in front of Cash and I, blocking our path down the hallway that leads to the King’s

chambers.

Standing side by side, Cash nor I hesitated for even a second, before we pushed our way straight

through the guards, continuing our path to the Alpha Rogue King’s chambers, knowing that had to

be where Lexi had taken him. When we got to his door, I reached out to grab the doorknob but

stopped myself right before I touched it. Retracting my hand, I shook my head, thinking she wasn’t

going to get me with her damn magic shit again.

“What the hell are you waiting for?” Cash asked me, as he moved to reach for the doorknob

himself, and for a moment, I thought about letting him see firsthand what I had been dealing with

here, but then I decided I had already royally messed things up between us enough.

“Don’t!” I yelled out under my breath, just before the tips of his fingers could touch it.

Turning his head to face me, his eyebrows furrowed as he stared at me waiting to give him an

explanation, while he slowly retracted his hand and took a step back from the door. Knowing that

he probably wasn’t going to believe me, I still admitted to him, “That damn witch likes to use her

little gift to booby trap doors and windows.”

For a second, I thought that just maybe he was going to believe what I was saying to him, but then he left out a chuckle and nudges me out of his way, before he moves to firmly grab ahold of the doorknob, while he says to me, “Man, you really have fallen off the deep end. You’re now scared of

a little damn witch?”

Honestly, my eyes squinted in pain for him for a second, as i thought, “I warned you.” But to my surprise, the sound of a click filled the silence, before he pushed the damn door open with ease

Doing his best to hold back his amusement, Cash extends his arm out, pointing it into the room, while he says right to me, “Ladies first”
