Chapter 223-2
Chapter 223-2
Within the shadows of the bedroom, Liam’s deep voice at that moment echoed through the room,
as he said, “He’s not going to make it past tomorrow’s daybreak.”
Cash and I immediately turned our attention towards him, just in time to see him standing from
where he was sitting. Stepping out of the darkness, he walked straight towards the bed, looking at
the man he never knew was his grandfather until recently.
Honestly, I couldn’t even imagine how he must be feeling right now, seeing the last of his elders dying right before him. All these years, he had been searching for his family, and when he finally
gets close, he loses them before he even gets the chance to know them.
“I honestly don’t know how his body has survived this long.” He then adds, as he continues to stare
blankly down at his grandfather’s frail body lying on the bed.
My eyes at that moment moved to look at Lexi, because from what I had learned over the last
couple of days being here, she was more powerful than just a normal witch. But as I stare at her
right now, I notice a clear difference in her appearance, making me come to the conclusion that these past couple of days have drained her powers, especially now seeing her beginning to sway
on her feet.
Without even giving it a second thought, I raced across the bedroom towards her, catching her just in the nick of time before her legs gave out. Lifting her into my arms, I carried her now limp body to the leather couch in the room, laying her gently down on it, as she began to mutter something under her breath. Unfortunately, Lexi was way too weak for me to understand a single word that she was saying, as she was barely speaking above a whisper.
Sweat beads were now forming on her forehead, as her flesh began to flush in color, and as I moved my hand to her damn forehead to check for a temperature, her body left out an electrical current that shocked the living shit out of me.
“Mother effer.” came from my lips as I moved to stand, shaking my hand as if it would ease my pain of being zapped by a hundred bolts of electrical current.
“Shit, that had to hurt.” Cash said, as he moved to my side, seeing Lexi’s body look like it was short-circuiting, before he added, “Yeah, maybe you were right about the witch.”
I gave the bastard a smirk, while I flipped him off, just as Liam made his way across the room to us. Kneeling on the floor beside Lexi, I watched as he looked to be assessing her, but when he raised his hand towards her forehead, I was about ready to warn his ass not to. But as the word, “… “began to come out of my mouth, his hand was already resting safely on her forehead.

“What the bloody hell?” I said out loud, before a low growl rumbled from my lips, wondering wh the hell I was the only one that the witch tortured.
