Chapter 239-1

Raven’s POV

“Everyone, give her space.” I roughly heard Chance’s voice say, as I felt him take my hand into his, while my eyes began to flutter open and slowly focus on my surroundings.

It was clear by the décor, I was no longer in my grandfather’s chambers, and by the feel of the comfortable mattress beneath my body, I had been moved to another bedroom, but no longer was it just Mazie, Lexi, and I, present in the room.

Slowly, I started to ease myself up, as my eyes began to land on everyone now staring at me. Chance quickly came to my aide to help me, as my other two mates stepped forward like they wanted to help, but Chance let out a subtle low growl, warning them to stay back.

“I’m okay.” I said just above a whisper, wanting Cash and Chase to know that I was fine, because, by the look in their eyes, they were gravely concerned about me.

“One of us should have stayed with you.” Cash says, obviously blaming himself for me passing out, but it wasn’t his fault or anyone else’s, and even though my head still felt like it was splitting, I was feeling much better.

Now that I was in a sitting position, my eyes scanned the room, taking in everyone’s worried faces staring back at me, except for one person. In the far back corner of the room, hidden within the shadows, Evan leaned against the wall, staring blankly out the window, as if he was trying to avoid

eye contact with me.

This was so unlike Evan’s personality, as he had always been the one to address me right away, making me believe that either something was up or he knew that I had overheard their conversation outside. Either way, I wasn’t going to let him off the hook, because the reason I was in the state I was in right now was partially because of the secrets that he and his brother have kept from all of us.

“Raven, you need to take it easy. Your body is going through a lot of changes which can easily exert you.” Chance now says to me with his own concern in his voice, drawing my attention back to him, as his fingers gently tuck a strand of my hair behind my ear.

“It’s true, Raven. Your body hasn’t completely adjusted to its new abilities and powers. Plus, you shouldn’t have used so much at one time.” Lexi surprisingly says, agreeing with one of my mates for the first time, shocking the hell out of me, but then again, by the looks of things, I had them all

worried about me.

“Yeah, love, we have your back. You don’t have to be a superhero when you have three wolverines

as your mates.” Cash then says, giving me a silly–looking wink, while lightening the mood in the room and putting a soft smile on my face, from Cash just being himself.

But not everyone in the room found Cash’s statement funny, as Chase leaves out a huff, before he says, “Come on guys, let’s not just dance around the obvious. She saw you guys from the window, and she heard what you all said. It’s time we are more transparent with her. She needs to know the truth, and honestly so do we all.”

“Chase!” Chance quickly yelled at him through his teeth, scolding him, but Chase was the only one here being real, and I appreciated that, especially from him.
