Chapter 247
Raven’s POV
My eyes winced as I braced for the inevitable pain to come, as I flew towards the hard turf, but just right before my body could hit the ground, the arms of my tackler cradled me tightly. At the last second, this person somehow managed to twist our bodies to take the blunt end of the fall, leaving me completely unscathed as we landed on the turf with a hard thud.
It wasn’t until I heard Jessica begin to laugh uncontrollably, did I finally open my eyes to see that I was now lying directly on top of one of the opposing team’s players‘ chests. My face heated, as my cheeks turned red, completely embarrassed, while all eyes were now on me, and not in a good way, as I tried to get to my feet, freeing myself, from his arms.
But before I could do so, Jessica moved to look down on me with her hands on her hips, as she said loudly enough for everyone to hear, “Really, Raven? You couldn’t wait until after the game to get nailed?”
Vindictively, the corners of her lips turned up, forming a malicious smirk on her face, before she then says even louder, “Nothing but a damn whore.”
An array of emotions at that moment hit me like a ton of bricks, as I felt everyone’s eyes on me now, looking at me with prejudice in them because of what Jessica had just said. Most of these people had never met me before in their lives, and wouldn’t even know me from Adam or Eve, but thanks to Jessica, this was going to be their first impression of me, their future Luna.
A part of me so badly wanted to curl up in a ball and hide my face, but the rage inside of me that was now taking over, wanted to put the bitch in her place, once and for all, like we had planned to do.
Shockingly, the opposing football player that was involved in the incident helped me get to my feet, before he surprisingly stepped in front of me, letting out a low warning growl to Jessica, before he said to her, “If i was your alpha, I would have your head for speaking to your Luna in that manner.”
“Luna? Please.” Jessica sarcastically said, before she and her posse all busted out laughing together, like. they had heard the funniest joke ever.
My eyes widened as I realized that this individual knew my little secret, and if he continued talking, our plan to ruin Jessica and her mother for good would be ruined, but at this point, I honestly didn’t even know if I could continue on until the halftime performance.
Once again, this individual went to open his mouth while he pointed his finger straight at Jessica’s chest. but thankfully, before he could say another word, the referees began to blow their whistles, making us all turn towards them. But my eyes didn’t move to the men in the black and white striped shirts, but to Chase. who was now standing in the iniddle of the football field, just glaring at me.
“Seriously?” I said under my breath, looking straight at him, as my eyes narrowed, wondering if he was that upset with me about abruptly leaving him back at my grandfather’s estate, to make him act so coldly towards me. Plus, let’s not forget the fact that now that we were back in Beaumont, in Jessica’s presence, he seems to be back to his old self, picking her over me.
Shaking my head slightly at Chase, I let him know in not so many words how I was feeling about him, as I glared back at him through my narrowed eyes, wanting him to know that I wasn’t going to stand for this shit, whether I bore his mark or not. He couldn’t just have his cake and eat it too, and if he truly wanted the

dumb bitch over me, then he could follow her right out of this town, because soon she was going to be packing her bags.
“Are you okay?” I now heard Come from behind me, before I felt his hand on my shoulder, making me turn away from Chase to see the individual that had tackled me, standing now directly beside me, wanting to make sure that I was fine before he went back onto the field.
It wasn’t until my eyes locked onto his through the opening in the helmet, did I realize that he must be the alpha of the visiting pack, as they reminded me of my own mates‘ eyes. Nodding my head, I let him know that I was fine, before he in return gave my shoulder a slight squeeze, as a million–dollar smile formed on his face, showing me every single pearly white tooth in his mouth. But of course, his display of compassion didn’t go unnoticed, especially by Chase, as he now lets out a growl, as if he was staking his claim on me.
This Alpha’s eyes move from mine to Chase’s as he lets out a playful chuckle, while he slowly removes his hand from my shoulder, before he says, “Whatever man. Like yours and your brothers‘ scents aren’t all over her.”
My eyes moved between the two, realizing that they must know each other, just before the alpha standing beside me said, “Hopefully, I’ll catch you at the after party. I loved to hear how you deal with that cranky bastard.”
Giving me one last smile, he took off, back to the middle of the field, joining his football team, as they formed a huddie, while my eyes moved back to Chase, who no longer was glaring at me, but in his own huddle himself. Seeing that I was now slightly on the field, I took a few steps back, before I was behind the white line, now hopefully safely out of harm’s way for the next play.
“Oh, my Goddess, do you know who that was?” Tonya leaned in and whispered to me, and instead of letting her know that I had figured out he had to be their Alpha, I just shook my head no, playing stupid.
“That is Jasper. He’s like Chase’s second cousin or something like that. At least that was the rumor going around last year.”
