Chapter 51-2

A look of shock filled his eyes as they widened, while he asked me, “Next weekend is your birthday?”

Biting my bottom lip, I shook my head yes, while Chance let out a growl of what sounded like frustration, before he threw his head back against the headrest of his seat, making me wonder what was wrong.

His hands moved to his face, facepalming it, telling me that something was clearly upsetting him, as he took a deep breath, before saying to me, “Of all the weekends you could be turning of age.”

“Is there something wrong with next weekend?” I asked him, as I wondered why my birthday being next weekend was an issue for him.

Sliding his hands down his face, he admits to me, “I have a business meeting in Freedom Port that weekend. I would cancel, but it took me forever to put this deal together.”

“It’s okay. I understand.” I said to him as I looked away, trying to hide my disappointment from him.

By the sounds of it, this meeting means a lot to him and his family’s business, and I don’t want him to feel bad about missing my birthday, even though I was really hoping to spend it with him, especially after I thought we could continue what we had started here.

But it was clear that I had done a horrible job hiding my disappointment, as Chance moved his hands to my arms and began to rub them, while he said to me, “You know what, I will just see if I can reschedule my meeting for another weekend.”

“No!” I said, jerking my head to look back at him, now worried that I was getting in the way of his family’s business. “I’m not letting you miss this important meeting because of me. I know how much your family’s business means to you. Besides, I won’t be alone on my birthday. I will have Mazie and Cash to celebrate with me, and when you get back, we can finish what we started.” I then said to him, as I fixed the collar of his shirt, before I purposely ran my hands across his firm chest, smoothing his shirt out from our little make-out session, to show him what would be waiting for him when he got back home from his meeting.

But my little show of flirtation with him backfired on me, as he lets out a playful growl, while he wraps his arms around me, pulling my body back into his, before he says to me, “No, actually I have a better idea.”

“You do?” I asked him with a bit of flirtation in my voice, before biting my bottom lip, as I wondered what this idea of his entitled.

His eyes were now focused on my lips, and I could tell that biting my lip was turning him on, as I felt another growl rumbling in his chest, while he licked his lips, making me bite down hard on my bottom lip, trying to stop my urge to kiss him again.

As his eyes remained on my lips, he said finally back to me, “I think I am just going to take you with me.”

“What?” I said to him, surprised, as a smile formed on my face with the thought of spending a weekend away with him alone, but then realization dawned on me, making the smile fall from my face as I say now to him, “I don’t think my grandmother would go for that.”

“Umm, Raven. You are going to be an adult. Besides, your grandmother loves me and my family. I am sure it won’t be a problem at all. Just let me talk to her.” He tells me with confidence in his voice, as if he is sure that it won’t be a problem, and that he has faith that

he can convince her.

Caressing my back, he gives me a devious smile as he raises one of his eyebrows, before he says to me, “So, what do you say? Can I interest you in going away for the weekend with me, so that we can finish what you started here?”

“What I started here…” I began to say back to him, but stopped as a chuckle came from my lips, seeing that he was going to blame this all on me, but knowing dang straight that he was

the one that had started it.

“Yeah, what you started. You are the one still sitting on my lap.”

“Well, you are the one that kissed me first.” I said back to him, trying to argue my case about how I ended up here, as I began to lift myself off his lap to move back to my seat, but he stopped me from doing so, by placing his hands firmly on my hips to hold me in my place.

“I think I will hold you hostage right here until I get a yes from you.” Chance now says to me, with an even bigger smirk on his face, as he leans into me, placing a trail of soft kisses up my neck, sending a shiver throughout my body, as I close my eyes, enjoying his gentle touch.

His trail of kisses made their way slowly to my ear, making me tilt my head further to the side, before I heard him whisper into my ear, “I have all night to wait for a yes from those pretty little lips of yours.” Before his lips went back to work, assaulting my neck, making me not want to answer him right away, because I was enjoying this so-called torture of his far

too much.

The sound of a horn honking loudly though, interrupted his little torture session with me, making me open my eyes to look over his shoulder at a truck sitting directly behind us. Quickly, I removed myself from his lap, as I moved back to my seat, praying to God that the person behind us didn’t see me on his lap.

Chance readjusted himself, before he moved his hands to the steering wheel, pulling out on the main highway, heading towards the city, as it was clear he wasn’t taking me home until

he had the answer he wanted to hear from me.
