Mr. CEO Your Wife Has Wanted a Divorce for a Long Time novel Chapter 663

Nolan had come to make introductions for Maggie and Johnny. His friends wouldn’t have slighted them even without him there, but him showing up in person was a different thing entirely.

Franklin knew Nolan had arrived, but he didn’t go out of his way to seek him out. It wasn’t until they crossed paths leaving the venue around noon that he gave a polite nod. Dr. Nolan.

Nolan returned it with a cool dip of his head and walked off with Maggie and Johnny.

The rest of the afternoon was packed. Maggie sat down for deep conversations with several veterans of the field, squeezed in a few interviews on top of that, and by the time the day wound down, she’d barely had a moment to breathe.

Then came the evening ceremony.

Maggie sat with Nolan’s group, not far from where Franklin was seated, though no words passed between them.

When Maggie’s name was called for the Outstanding Paper Award, Nolan walked up to present it himself, exactly as the rumors had said.

Seeing him take the stage, the host smiled. Word has it Dr. Nolan made an exception and accepted the invitation specifically to present this award to Ms. Miller in person. Can you confirm?

Nolan’s expression was characteristically cool. But he didn’t hedge. That’s correct.

The directness caught the host off guard. It caught Maggie off guard too.

She had known, of course, that the reason Nolan was here today was for her. He’d even cleared extra days from his schedule to make it happen, which for someone as relentlessly busy as Nolan was no small thing.

Back when she’d walked away from the field she loved to get married and start a family, he hadn’t said much. When she eventually found her way back to AI and threw herself into it again, he hadn’t pushed her too hard either. But she knew. He had never wanted to see her abandon her career or waste what she had.

So every step she’d taken this past year, every achievement she’d quietly stacked up Nolan rarely brought it up, but she knew it made him happy.

Thinking about it now, she felt the sting behind her eyes before she could stop it.

The host turned back to Nolan with a warm smile. Ms. Miller has accomplished so much at such a young age. We’re sure you must be incredibly proud. Is there anything you’d like to say to her right now?

Everyone in the room, the host included, expected him to say at least something. Maybe not a speech, but a few

senterices.

Nolan gave them four words: Keep up the work.

Then he held out the trophy.

Maggie’s eyes were red, but she smiled. She took the award from his hands and told him, I will. Don’t worry.

I won’t let you down again.

She didn’t say that part out loud.

But as her voice settled and her gaze swept down toward the audience, the first person she found was Franklin.

He was looking up at the stage. Looking at her.
