“Sienna lost because she wasn’t good enough. That’s on her!”
Jasper looked like I’d just slapped him. He clearly didn’t expect me to say no.
“I said I’d marry you. Isn’t that what you always wanted?”
His eyes went wide for a second–panicked.
He even reached out to touch my hand.
“Are you so happy you’re in shock? Wren, I said we’re getting married.”
I slapped his hand
away.
“I already made myself clear. I’m not repeating it. If you don’t leave, I’m calling security.”
I turned to press the alarm.
But Sienna suddenly lunged out from around the corner and blocked it.
Her eyes were bloodshot–she clearly hadn’t slept. She looked unhinged.
“Wren, you’ve always loved Jasper, haven’t you? I already gave you a chance. I told him to marry you. How long are you going to keep pretending? Just say yes already.”
Her tone was almost manic.
“Just marry him. Then make the firm not fire me.”
“Say yes! Wait… you actually fell for Callum Ashford?!”
I tried to step back, but Jasper moved in front of me.
“Is what she said true?”
Sienna tried to calm him down.
But Jasper–who used to care so much about her feelings–acted like he didn’t hear her.
He shook off her hand and repeated, “Did you really fall for Callum Ashford?”
Seeing how indifferent I looked, the last bit of hope in Sienna’s eyes finally died.
She finally believed it. I really didn’t want Jasper anymore.
And then, her expression twisted into something even more deranged.
“Wren, how the hell did you get Callum Ashford?”

Chapter 6
“If I’d known his schedule earlier, I could’ve run into him instead. It should’ve been me with him.”
“Why isn’t he picky? How could he settle for someone like you? He’s from one of the top families in the state!”
“I worked so hard using Jasper as a tool. Why did it end up like this? Why the fuck is this happening to me?! I did everything right!”
It was the first time I’d ever seen Sienna completely fall apart.
Way worse than any of my own breakdowns.
Jasper slowly let go of Sienna’s hand.
He hadn’t expected her to be using him this whole time.
But strangely, he didn’t seem as angry as he should’ve been.
What seemed to bother him more was my relationship with Callum.
“You really fell for Callum? I don’t believe it.” He reached for me. “Come with me.”
I dodged his hand.
Security arrived just in time.
Jasper didn’t even look at them. He kept staring at me.
“Wren, why won’t you answer me?”
“Is it true? How could you? How could you do this?!”
