Chapter 9
“Tell Zeke to come out.”
I sent Sunny inside, then stood up.
“You’ve got the wrong place, Miss Hart. Zeke’s not here.”
She pulled off her sunglasses.
‘Don’t play dumb, you homewrecking bitch. I know you used some trick to lure him away from our engagement. You humiliated me
in front of everyone!”
I kept my voice steady. “Miss Hart, if you can’t keep your fiancé in check, don’t take it out on me.”
Her eyes went wide. She slapped me–hard.
My cheek burned. I raised my hand to hit back-
Zeke shoved me aside.
“Harper!”
He held out the flowers he’d been carrying.
“Harper, we wronged Vivian. You can’t hit her.”
[laughed bitterly. Slapped him across the face. “Zeke, you ran from that engagement. Not me! I didn’t wrong her!”
‘And she hit me first!”
I threw the flowers back in his face.
Take your damn roses and get lost. I hate roses.”
Zeke’s eyes stayed locked on my swollen cheek. He turned to Vivian.
‘Why’d you hit her? Vivian, I apologized. Gave your family 3% of company shares as compensation. What more do you want?!”
Vivian froze.
“Zeke, are you insane? What the hell did this woman do to you? You said you loved me!”
Zeke looked away, muttered a curse under his breath. “Yeah, I used to love you. But I don’t anymore. I figured myself out. Happy?”
Vivian screamed. Before she could say another word, I cut her off.
“Zeke, I want nothing to do with your drama. Get her out of here. Now. Or I’m calling the cops.”
Zeke blinked. Nodded quickly.

“I’ll take her. Right now. Please don’t be upset, Harper.”
He dragged Vivian out.
Back inside, I grabbed an ice pack. Sat there, pressing it to my face for a long time.
