Michael’s eyes flicked away, his guilt plain on his face. “Back then, the Lincoln Group was falling apart. But that was my father’s company. I was the heir. It should’ve gone to me.”

His voice cracked as he tried to sound righteous. Adriana saw right through him. He wasn’t just weak. He was rotten to the core.

She moved closer and took Curtis’s hand, gripping it tight.

Michael’s jaw tightened, his eyes blazing. “I’ll call him,” he growled. “We’re going back today. I’ll make Curtis call me ‘Dad‘ in front of everyone.”

He grabbed his phone and started dialing furiously. “Once Dad sees Denton, he’ll love him. He’s his grandson too. He can’t spoil Curtis and throw us scraps. Whatever Curtis has, Denton should have it too!”

“Dad!” Denton shouted, his voice shaking with anger. He turned around and stormed off before he lost control.

He didn’t want this. He didn’t want to be some spoiled rich kid who lived off someone else’s money. He refused to walk into the Lincolns like a beggar dragged in by his father’s pride.
