“You just don’t ask him questions, okay?”

Nina nodded obediently. “Okay!”

She agreed nicely, but Daniel still wasn’t entirely reassured.

On the way, they bought breakfast.

Though home food was delicious, Nina loved street cats too.

She picked a roadside hot dog stand herself.

The stand wasn’t the cleanest, but it was lively.

Crowds of customers lined up for hot dogs. Nina stared the whole time.

Nina glanced at her arm and thought for a moment, following his words.

She actually nodded. “Nina fall!”

The vendor genuinely felt for her. “How did you fall so badly? Didn’t your mommy and daddy watch you?”

Nina blinked and answered, “Daddy hurt.”

The vendor said, “Oh no, you and your daddy both hurt? Were you in a car accident?”

Nina nodded. “Yes.”

Daniel watched Nina making things up and shook his head helplessly.

“Okay, okay, Nina, no more talking. Eat your food.”

Daniel didn’t want her spinning more tales. He handed her a hot dog.

They finished their roadside meal and arrived at Daniel’s friend Erik Cameron’s house.

The moment Erik saw Daniel, his already red eyes turned redder.

Daniel glanced at the empty bottles around him and knew he probably hadn’t slept.

“Erik, Lucas didn’t stay with you?”

Daniel carried Nina inside. Nina curiously watched the uncle sitting on the floor.

She slid down and walked over to Erik. “You okay?”

Nina tilted her chubby face and asked, “You hurt?”

Her question broke Erik completely.

Erik couldn’t hold back any longer and burst into tears. “Even Nina knows I’m hurt!”

Erik knew Nina well.

Daniel posted little videos of Nina on Ins every few days.

Not only on Ins, but he also shared them in their private friends‘ group chats.

He was more than familiar!

He hadn’t made it to Nina’s banquet a few days ago, but he had sent his gift.

Erik’s sudden outburst caught Nina off guard.

Erik saw Daniel holding the photo and shook his shoulders frantically.
