The vendor said, “Oh no, you and your daddy both hurt? Were you in a car accident?”

Nina nodded. “Yes.”

Daniel watched Nina making things up and shook his head helplessly.

“Okay, okay, Nina, no more talking. Eat your food.”

Daniel didn’t want her spinning more tales. He handed her a hot dog.

They finished their roadside meal and arrived at Daniel’s friend Erik Cameron’s house.

The moment Erik saw Daniel, his already red eyes turned redder.
