Nelson watched as Nina miraculously calmed his father lown, but he didn’t let his guard drop for even a second.
His small body stayed tense, full of vigilance as he hovered nearby.
He was ready to snatch Nina back at any moment!
On Trevor’s side, Nina worked her strange magic and eased his torment without doing anything particularly special.
She simply hung on to him and talked in her soft, milky voice. “Daddy… you no angry?
“Read picture book together?
“Read monkey?”
Nina was still calling Trevor “Daddy.” Meanwhile, her real father had rushed over in a hurry.
Benjamin arrived carrying a small suitcase.
Inside were pajamas for the three of them, a change of clothes for him and Amelia, and everything else belonged to Nina.
He had brought several sets of her little outfits, plus two pull-up diapers.
Nina didn’t need diapers during the day anymore, but she still wore them at night.
She slept so deeply that even when she needed to use the bathroom, she wouldn’t wake up.
The diapers made nighttime easier.
Clothes, diapers, a few of Nina’s favorite snacks, and toys-Benjamin had packed a lot.
He wheeled the suitcase in but hadn’t even set it down to open it before noticing that Nina and Nelson weren’t in the room.
“They went to play?” Benjamin asked casually as he unzipped the case, glancing at Amelia.
Amelia nodded.
She didn’t mention to Benjamin that Nina had been calling Trevor “Daddy” earlier. She only said vaguely, “The two of them went together to find Nelson’s daddy.
“Being in someone else’s house has her all excited today She won’t settle down to sleep.”
While Amelia chatted about Nina, Benjamin was already unpacking the suitcase and placing the clothes neatly in the wardrobe.
Once everything was sorted, he walked over to Amelia.
With Nina, that little third wheel, not around, Benjamin lowered his head and kissed Amelia for a while.

Benjamin knew where the line was.
He only wanted to kiss her-nothing more.
The two adults indulged in a brief moment of closeness When Nina still hadn’t returned, Benjamin took a quick shower and went out to look for her.
Amelia didn’t follow.
She took advantage of the quiet time to shower herself.
Benjamin headed straight for Trevor’s room.
At that moment, the atmosphere inside Trevor’s room was unusually warm and harmonious.
Nina sat on Trevor’s lap. She had already finished looking at the picture book and was now happily sticking decals everywhere.
