“Sky not black.
“No sleep.
“We play together?”
When Trevor ignored her, Nina reached out to poke his eyes.
Luckily, Nelson stopped her just in time.
“Nina, want to read a picture book? I bring some.”
Nelson pulled out one of Nina’s favorite books.
He could already read.
Though he didn’t know a huge number of words, the picture books Nina liked were ones he’d read many times.
He had the sentences memorized.
He could recite them without even looking.
Nelson read aloud while Nina babbled along, matching his rhythm in her own way.
The two little ones played together, and Trevor finally got a moment of quiet.
After finishing the book, Nelson brought out a Rubik’s Cube for Nina to fiddle with.
The whole ride, Nelson kept her entertained.
Nina was delighted to have him play with her.
After a while, the car arrived at the zoo.
The driver parked, and Nina immediately tried to jump out the moment the car stopped.
“Nina, slow down.” Nelson grabbed her hand to stop her from opening the door.
Trevor had kept his eyes closed the whole way, but he had not actually fallen asleep. He was just resting.
Seeing Nina so impatient, he opened his eyes and pulle her back.
Soon, one child in a wheelchair and the other hanging ‘Trevor’s neck, he led both little ones into the zoo,
Trevor had originally planned to carry both of them at nce.
But Nelson hesitated for a moment and still refused.
Nelson knew Nina was heavy.

Trevor would probably struggle to carry Nina. Carrying both of them would be too much.
And in a crowded place like this, Nina was hard to manage.
Nelson wasn’t jealous at all that his dad was carrying Nina.
If his leg had been healed and he were a little older, he would have wanted to carry Nina, too.
The zoo was very big. Upright signs showed which animals were in which areas, and they could follow the signs.
Trevor asked calmly, “What animals do you want to see
Nina shouted at full volume, “Big dino! Where big dino
Trevor said helplessly. “There are no dinosaurs here.”
Seeing that Nina’s answer was completely unreliable, Trevor stopped asking and made the decision himself, taking the two little ones to see the tigers.
All the tigers on display in the zoo were adult tigers.
Their huge size was still pretty intimidating.
Nina liked them the moment she saw them.
