Chapter 377 Trying to Win Her Back

Lance stared at Adriana in shock, then burst out laughing. “The Ainsworth Group isn’t the Lincoln Group. Their CEO isn’t some impulsive little brat like Denton!”

Adriana turned to Ronan. “Mr. Fowler, please end Ainsworth Group’s cooperation with the Hamiltons.”

Ronan walked over, smiling as he nodded. “Of course. If Ms. Barton says so, I’ll make it happen.

Lance looked at Adriana in terror. “How is that possible… Mr. Fowler… she–she’s just an orphan. Even if she’s now the Barton Group heir, you don’t have to be afraid of her… Curtis is dead!”

There was no one backing Adriana now.

Everyone understood Justin was still watching from the sidelines.

“Apparently you don’t read financial news. Ms. Barton donated all of Mr. Lincoln’s assets to the Ainsworth Group and is now one of our shareholders. Whatever Ms. Barton says represents our boss.” Ronan pointed upward with a smile.

Everyone present was stunned.

People had always tried to find out who really owned Ainsworth Group, but no one knew the true boss behind it.

With what Ronan just said, it meant Adriana was already connected with the big boss, and they were close.

Even Barton Group’s senior managers were shocked. No one had expected a girl who just returned to the family as an orphan to have connections like this.

“Langford Group is cutting all ties with the Hamiltons as well.” Matthew entered with a cold face.

“Gill Group is cutting all ties with the Hamiltons, too.” Marcus followed Matthew in, his tone just as serious.

Everyone at the scene turned to look at Adriana.

Danielle’s show of force had completely backfired and cemented Adriana’s authority in their circle.

Lance was shaking as he spoke. “Adriana… Adriana, I know I was wrong. I was just… just joking around with you.”

Adriana let out a cold laugh. “Sorry, I’m not joking with you.”

Adriana looked at Danielle coldly. She actually has the nerve to call me out for relying on men? I’m the legitimate heir of the Bartons, my grandpa’s only recognized granddaughter. Who do you think you are?”

“Your own plan backfired on you. How amusing.” Kenneth gave Chandler and Danielle a look, then respectfully followed Adriana.

Kenneth had been personally trained by Curtis. His skills at reading the air and smoothing things over were second to none.

“Adriana.” Adriana started to head for her seat, but Matthew blocked her path. “Come with me for a minute.”

Adriana glanced at Matthew, then her gaze shifted to Natasha, who was standing by Danielle, watching the show. “Mr. Langford, Danielle claims I used men to get ahead. Why don’t you explain what’s really between us and what I ever got from you?”

Matthew’s face went pale. He knew that was a wound between him and Adriana that would never heal.

He opened his mouth, but it took a long time for him to speak. “Everyone, Adriana and I used to date. She never took anything from me–not even tuition money. She worked part–time to pay for school and even used her scholarship to help students in need. She’s an excellent, hardworking woman.”

In the rich heirs‘ circle, Matthew’s status and influence were second only to Curtis. Now that Curtis was gone, the Lincoln Group wasn’t so powerful anymore, so no one dared to contradict Matthew.

When the room went silent, Matthew spoke again. “I hope I never hear anyone badmouth my relationship with Adriana again. We broke up peacefully, and I’m actually trying to win her back.”
