Chapter 86 Leaving Tonight
“Nicole wouldn’t lie. She’s Jeremy’s granddaughter and your fiancée,” Harold said angrily.
Finished
“Oh, Adriana wouldn’t lie either. She’s my wife, and the mother of your grandchild,” Curtis said calmly, looking back at Adriana. “Let’s head back to the hotel. We’re not coming here again. No need to stick around and get blamed for stuff.”
Adriana kept her head down, afraid to meet Curtis’s eyes.
All her life, no one had ever trusted and defended her so firmly.
Even when she was with Matthew, he had never defended her like this.
Whenever she got into conflicts with others, Matthew’s first reaction was always to take the other person’s side, calling it ‘keeping the peace.
“Curtis!” Harold was about to keep scolding, but the family doctor arrived, and he had to focus on Nicole’s injuries first.
Jeremy and Danielle soon arrived as well.
“Grandpa, Adriana pushed me,” Nicole cried.
Danielle was furious. “Adriana, how can you be so cruel?”
“Who says she’s cruel? Did you bring proof?” Curtis frowned at Danielle
Danielle froze, looking at Nicole. “Nicole is hurt like this, and she says Adriana pushed her. Are you saying she’s lying? She has to take responsibility!”
“Listening to you makes me sick. You should take responsibility too and shut up.” Curtis grew impatient. He held Adriana’s hand and walked away.
Adriana realized that when she was with Curtis, she didn’t need to speak or explain herself.
Curtis always handled the attacks for her, countering every strike.
So, this is what it feels like to have someone fight for you, huh? It’s so satisfying.
“Don’t fall into the trap of always having to prove yourself. And don’t hold back your emotions—if you want to go crazy, go crazy,” Curtis said, opening the car door and looking at Adriana. “Getting sick from stress isn’t worth it.”
Better to make the other person frustrated than to stow silently.
“If I lose it, nobody’s gonna cover for me … ” Adriana whispered.
Last time she lost it, she smashed a vase over Rufus’s head and almost got arrested.
“I’ve got your back, as long as you stay within the law.” Curtis shoved her into the passenger seat and drove
off.

Harold waved a hand in front of him. “What are you thinking about?”
Jeremy shook his head. “Nothing …”
Every time he saw Adriana, he thought of his late wife.
Adriana was too much like a young Audrey.
How could anyone in this world look so similar…
I secretly ordered a DNA test for Nicole. If she really isn’t my granddaughter, then could Adriana
“Grandpa, if you’re not feeling well, you should rest first,” Danielle said, quickly helping Jeremy to his feen
Jeremy nodded. “Take Nicole to the hospital for scans. I’ll head back.”
