“Keep an eye on her. See if there are any kids around her. If there are, tell me right away.”

Katherine walked into Lucas’s study. Like always the room was only black and white. The moment she entered, the air felt heavy.

“How did you escape?” Lucas was looking at documents. He set down his pen and raised his deep eyes toward her.

Katherine met his gaze. Her face stayed calm, but her heart was racing.

Lucas slightly lifted his chin, signaling the servant to leave.

The servant closed the door behind them. Now was just the two of them.

The silence felt suffocating.

Katherine tightened her mouth. “I’m not a prisoner. Don’t say it like that.”

Lucas lifted a brow and let out a cold laugh.

He didn’t understand how she could be in the wrong and still act so justified. If he hadn’t handled things for her, she’d already be in court

His laugh made her more nervous, but she tried not to show it.

He asked, “So, why are you here?”

Katherine didn’t want to waste words with him. She got straight to the point. “What did you mean last night? And why did you send two people to guard my house?”

Lucas had planned to handle Ivy’s matter first, then deal with Katherine. He hadn’t expected her to come on her own.

Marsh added, “Last night, a mystery hacker broke into Grant Enterprise’s system. Guess who did it.”

Katherine’s pupils shrank slightly.
