She was just about to answer the call when the door was pushed open.

A tall man grabbed her wrist. His shadow fell over her.

Katherine almost screamed, her eyes widening. Then she saw his face.

She frowned hard. Lucas leaned closer, pressing her back against the wall. She couldn’t move

at all.

“Lucas!”

He looked down at her. This was the same Katherine who had been bold and confident at the auction. He lifted her chin with his hand. “How did I never notice you were this pretty?”

Katherine gave a cold laugh. “Because you were blind before.”

She smiled lightly. It was charming enough to steal someone’s soul. Lucas raised a brow. “Good thing I noticed now.”

“No. Too late.” She pushed him away. “No matter how pretty I am, I’m not yours.”

She turned to leave, but the phone that had just hung up started ringing again. Lucas grabbed her wrist and glanced at the screen. “Who’s calling you? Why are you in such a hurry?”

The screen showed that it was Julian calling.

Katherine panicked and tried to pull free. “Let go.”

Lucas didn’t release her. The call ended, and the call log appeared. He frowned and read the names in a low voice. “Julian. Ethan… Baby?”

His eyes sharpened. “Katherine, you don’t have three kids, do you?”

Her face went pale. She forced herself to stay calm and snatched back her phone. “Yeah, I have three. Later I’ll have eight more and make a soccer team. Sounds good?”

Lucas frowned and grabbed her by the neck. “Tell the truth.”

“I am telling the truth. I love having kids for fun. My life goal is to form a full soccer team. Let go, I need to go make a baby.”

They had come to pick her up. The next second vy saw Lucas.

Katherine’s heart almost jumped out of her chest. She looked up and saw Megan coming, and behind her were Julian and Ethan.

Luckily, Megan, Julian, and Ethan reacted fast and hid around the corner.

Lucas’s attention was on Ivy, so he didn’t notice them.

Katherine was terrified.

Lucas looked down at Ivy. “Why are you here?” He glanced at Katherine. “You came to see her?”

Even after the DNA test, Lucas still had doubts about Ivy.

Ivy blinked nervously and nodded. “Mommy brought me to thank Katherine.”

Lucas raised a brow. “Where is your mommy?”

Behind the wall, Megan gritted her teeth, trying to figure out what to do.

Julian and Ethan heard everything and quickly understood. “Megan, you’re up,” they whispered.

“I…”

She wasn’t ready at all but instantly switched into acting mode.

“Ivy, slow down! You’ll fall!”

Megan walked up to Lucas and Katherine. Lucas stared at her with deep, searching eyes, making her very nervous.

She forced herself to look natural and acted surprised. “Mr. Grant? You’re here too? Are you here to see Ms. Pearce?”

Lucas looked at the flowers in her hands instead of answering. “You knew she’d be here tonight?”
