Chapter 81 The Signature
Lucas looked at Rachel. He knew she was alone. She had just gone through something terrifying. He should have stayed with her.
But his thoughts were on Katherine and Ivy.
They were in worse shape.
“The doctors will take care of you. You’re safe here,” Lucas said quietly.
Even as he spoke, he had already decided to leave.
Rachel’s tears fell faster.
“You’re going to see Katherine, aren’t you? I’m hurt too!” Her voice shook. That man had kicked her into the water. Her whole body still ached. How could Lucas walk away from her like this?
Lucas frowned slightly. “You’ve had a rough day. Let the doctor examine you first. I’ll come
back later.”
“Lucas! Lucas!”
He didn’t turn around.
Rachel’s eyes dimmed. He left her for that bitch
He had never treated her this coldly before.
It was Katherine’s fault.
Dammit! Why hadn’t Katherine drowned with her bastard daughter today?
Katherine was still in the emergency room. Lucas walked quickly down the hallway and told Fred in a low voice, “Find out who that man is. I want to know his background.”
Outside the emergency room, the air felt heavy.
Because of Marsh’s presence, no one dared to get close. Other families stayed far away from him.
Just then, a nurse walked out.
“Hello, are you Ms. Katherine Pearce’s family? We need a signature on her consent form.”

Julian and Ethan lifted their little heads. They were about to look up when they heard a
familiar voice.
“I’ll sign it.”
It was Lucas.
Both boys stiffened.
Bad Daddy?
Ethan almost turned around, but Julian grabbed him quickly.
“Don’t be nervous,” Julian whispered.
Lucas wasn’t paying attention to them. His focus was on the form.
Both Lucas and Marsh reached for the paper.
Marsh narrowed his eyes. “Who do you think you are?”
Lucas pressed his lips together. His voice was low and dangerous. “Who do you think you are?”
They were about the same height. Their presence was just as strong. The tension between them was sharp. The nurse standing in front of them felt a chill run down her spine.
“I’ll sign it,” Lucas said firmly.
“Move,” Marsh replied coldly.
The nurse looked at them carefully. “Hmm, we need the family consent to start emergency treatment. Which one of you is the family member?”
Lucas grabbed the form, took the pen, and signed his name quickly and neatly. “I’m her husband,” he said. “He’s just the other man.”
“Huh?”
The nurse’s eyes widened. Her face lit up with open curiosity.
Such a handsome husband. Such a striking “other man.” The woman inside really had an unbelievable life.
“Other man?” Marsh’s face turned dark. His eyes were sharp. “You’re just her ex-husband. You don’t get to speak here.”

Chapter 81 The Signature
A shadow passed through Lucas’s eyes. “We’re not divorced.”
Marsh gave a cold laugh and narrowed his eyes “So?”
As long as we’re still married, she’s my wife. No one can change that.”

Lucas finished signing the document and handed the form back to the nurse. Then, he looked at the emergency room doors, his lips pressed tight.
Megan shifted her body slightly, trying to shield the boys, and helped them slip away.
But Julian and Ethan didn’t move.
Moving would make them easier to notice. If they stayed still, Lucas might not look their
way.
An hour later, several doctors and nurses pushed Ivy out on a hospital bed.
“Who is the child’s family?” a nurse asked.
“It’s me!” Megan hurried forward. She looked at Ivy anxiously. “How is she?”
“She didn’t lose much blood. For now, she’s stable. We’ve treated the wound. But she nearly drowned and was badly frightened. As parents. You need to watch her emotions closely.”
“I understand,” Megan said quickly.
Lucas looked at Ivy lying pale on the bed. His heart was aching. He finally noticed the bo standing nearby.
They were turned slightly to the side. Their young profiles looked strangely familiar.
Lucas frowned and stepped closer, trying to see them more clearly.
Julian and Ethan sensed footsteps behind them. They stood stiffly, barely daring to breathe.
Just then, the emergency room doors opened again. “Katherine’s family?”
Lucas turned at once. His face was tense. “How is she?”
“Are all of you her family?” the doctor asked, histone stern. “She had a high fever. Why did you bring her in so late? She was burning up and almost drowned. Of course, she would pass
out.”
Fever?
Lucas narrowed his eyes. “Is she awake?”
