Inside the car, Katherine pressed a hand to her chest. It felt like she had just escaped danger. She turned to look at Julian and Ethan.

Julian leaned over the back of the front seat. “Mom, tell us what happened inside!”

Katherine knew they were curious. She gave them a short version of the story.

Ethan let out an exaggerated gasp. He clapped his hands. “Marsh is amazing.”

They soon arrived at the hotel.

Marsh glanced at the building. “Are you planning to stay here for a while?”

“Yes,” Katherine replied. “The downstairs of my house is covered in broken glass. It’s not safe.”

“I can find you another place to stay.”

“That’s okay. I’ll have someone clean it up tomorrow and install new windows. We can move back after that. We’re heading in now. Drive safe

Katherine got out with Julian and Ethan.

Back in the room, she had booked a family suite. The bedroom was inside, and there was a small living room outside. She told the boys to shower and go to bed while she unpacked.

It had been a long day. Katherine felt completely worn out.
