My CEO HUSBAND sign the divorce novel Chapter 285

Chapter 285: Call me Alexander

When we arrived at the mansion, Aunt Margaret made sure I ate something, even though I couldn’t manage more than a few bites.

Afterward, I freshened up in my room before heading to Aimy’s room to pack a few of her things.

I didn’t miss how unusually quiet the mansion was.

Even the staff seemed affected by everything that had happened.

I walked into Aimy’s room and began packing a few sets of her clothes into a small bag, just in case we had to stay at the hospital longer.

The Superman-themed room felt strangely empty.

Everything was exactly where it should be...

Except for its little owner.

The silence made my chest tighten.

After packing everything, I was about to leave when I suddenly remembered her teddy bear.

She loved sleeping with it and hardly ever went to bed without hugging it.

I turned back and checked her bed first.

It wasn’t there.

I searched her little closet, the reading corner, and every place I could think of, but I still couldn’t find it.

I decided to ask Agnes instead.

She was the one who usually cleaned Aimy’s room.

As soon as I stepped outside, I saw one of the house staff walking down the hallway.

"Where’s Agnes?" I asked.

"Oh, Agnes wasn’t feeling well this afternoon, so she took the rest of the day off," the maid replied.

My brows furrowed.

"Agnes is sick?"

The maid nodded before excusing herself and walking away.

I stood there for a moment.

This morning, Agnes had seemed perfectly fine...

What could have happened so suddenly?

The thought crossed my mind briefly before I pushed it aside.

Right now, Aimy was far more important.

I decided to search the places where she usually played.

I checked the living room first, but the teddy wasn’t there.

Then I searched the hallway.

Just as I was about to give up, I spotted the familiar teddy bear lying beside the family dog in the corridor.

A small smile appeared on my face.

"So this is where you were."

I bent down, picked up the teddy, and gently scratched the dog’s head.

"Do you miss her too?" I murmured softly.

Max leaned into my hand, letting out a quiet whine.

A soft chuckle escaped my lips.

"Don’t worry..."

"She’ll come back soon."

I stood up, holding the teddy close before making my way downstairs.

Uncle Herbert was in his study, while Aunt Margaret was in the kitchen preparing a few more things for Aimy.

Anna insisted on driving me back to the hospital, so after saying goodbye to everyone, we got into the car and left for the hospital.

Halfway through the drive, my phone suddenly rang.

I glanced at the screen.

It was Aunt Veronica.

"Hello?"

"Hello, Alicia. Where are you? Aimy is awake."

"What?" I asked instinctively, making sure I hadn’t heard wrong.

"She’s awake. Hurry."

"Alright."

I ended the call, my heart pounding so hard it felt like it would burst from my chest.

The excitement I felt was indescribable.

"What happened?" Anna asked, glancing at me.

"Aimy’s awake."

"Really?"

I nodded eagerly.

"Yeah. That’s what Aunt Veronica just said."

Anna smiled before pressing slightly harder on the accelerator.

A few moments later, we arrived at the hospital.

I grabbed the bag we’d brought and hurried inside with Anna following behind me.

By the time we reached the ICU floor, I was almost running.

Aunt Veronica was standing quietly outside the glass window.

"Aunt," I called.

She turned around before smiling gently.

"Come here."

I walked over and looked through the glass.

The moment I saw the scene inside...
