My CEO HUSBAND sign the divorce novel Chapter 295

Chapter 295: Uneventful

"Alicia, we were married for two years. How can you say you never felt even the slightest feelings for me?"

She let out a short, bitter laugh.

"Was I the only one in that marriage? You spent those same two years in love with someone else. Why should I have been the one to fall for you?"

I closed my eyes and rubbed my chin, feeling more helpless than I ever had before.

Reaching for her hand, I held it gently.

"I don’t know how else to convince you. I know I made countless mistakes, but you have to believe me when I say that when I close my eyes, I see only you. You’re the person I want beside me. The one who can turn my world upside down with a single word."

For the first time, her composure faltered.

"Then answer me this," she said softly. "When did you start loving me?"

I had expected the question.

I simply didn’t have the answer.

She saw my hesitation and smiled—a small, mocking smile that seemed directed more at herself than at me.

Fear gripped me. I tightened my hold on her hand, as though letting go would mean losing her forever.

"Look at me, Alicia."

I gently turned her face toward mine.

"The truth is, I don’t know. I don’t know when it began or how. I only know that you’re the woman who makes me feel things I’ve never felt before. The woman who can leave me helpless with a single look, can’t you see it when you look into my eyes?."

I swallowed hard.

"You have no idea what these past two years were like. I searched for you everywhere. I was terrified of never seeing you again. Maybe that’s when I realized just how much I loved you."

She remained silent, her lips parting as though she wanted to speak. Hope flared within me—only for her to close them again.

"You should go, Alexander," she said quietly. "You’ll be late for work."

She withdrew her hand and reached for her suitcase. I caught it before she could lift it.

"Nothing is more important than this conversation right now," I said, my voice low. "Please, Alicia. Tell me how you truly feel. We can’t keep living like this, buried beneath all these misunderstandings."

"There’s nothing more to say." she said with finality.

"I have to check on Aimy."

Her hand slipped from mine as she walked toward the door. She didn’t look back until she reached it.

"And please tell the staff to move my things to a guest room."

Then she was gone.

For a long moment, I stood there, feeling as though a bucket of ice water had been poured over me. Regret settled heavily in my chest.

Almost without thinking, I crossed to the bedside drawer, took out a cigarette, and stepped onto the balcony to light it.

I had truly believed she would trust me this time.

But what if she never did? What if she never believed in my feelings—or worse, no longer cared?

I had promised myself that I would accept whatever decision she made. Even so, her refusal to even acknowledge the possibility of us hurt more than I cared to admit.

A knock sounded at the door.

"Sir?"

I didn’t answer. A moment later, the door opened.

"What is it?" I asked sharply, not bothering to turn around.

"The board members want to discuss some details with you about the clothing brand expansion."
