My CEO HUSBAND sign the divorce novel Chapter 300

Chapter 300: Tests

After a moment, I reluctantly let go, not wanting to make her uncomfortable. The emptiness that followed was almost unbearable.

She cleared her throat and avoided my gaze. I had to suppress a smile at her flustered expression.

She caught it immediately. "What’s so funny?" she asked, a hint of irritation creeping into her voice.

"Maybe I should start joining you for your workouts," I replied.

She narrowed her eyes and turned back to the treadmill. Only then did I truly notice what she was wearing, and how much she had changed.

Her sweatpants were loose enough to be comfortable, yet they did little to hide the graceful curves of her figure.

The cropped sports top covered her modestly while revealing the smooth skin of her waist and arms.

Alicia had always been beautiful, but the years had lent her a quiet maturity that made her even more captivating.

"You know," she said without looking at me, "staring is rude."

I quickly looked away and resumed my workout. Yet no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t concentrate. My gaze kept drifting back to her.

Eventually, I gave up altogether and left the gym while she continued exercising.

Alicia had always affected but today..... It was even worse. Even after leaving the room, I couldn’t stop thinking about her.

I returned to my room, freshened up, and then headed downstairs for breakfast.

During the past few days, I had been leaving for the office early, so Alicia and I rarely shared breakfast. Dinner was much the same. Sometimes I ate only with Aimy, and to my surprise, I had begun looking forward to those meals.

My appetite had always been poor, but Aimy’s chatter and playful antics somehow made the food taste better.

As I descended the stairs that morning, a staff member approached me.

"Sir, Miss Karen is here."

I frowned but nodded. "Where is she?"

"In the living room, sir."

"Alright."

I headed there, only to find the room empty. Had the staff been mistaken? What reason would Karen have for coming here on a Saturday without calling first?

I turned toward the kitchen, thinking she might have stepped away. A few moments later, she emerged from that direction.

The moment she saw me, she faltered.

"Why are you here?" I asked.

"Sir, I—I brought this file for you," she replied, handing it over. "It needs your signature before Monday."

Then, before I could speak again, she added, "I was thirsty, so I got some water from the kitchen."

"Why not send it by email?"

"I thought you’d prefer the hard copy."

Her hesitation caught my attention. Karen was rarely flustered. In fact, I could count on one hand the number of times I had seen her lose her composure.

"You may go," I said, accepting the file.

Just then, her gaze shifted past me. The warmth left her expression, replaced by something hard and unreadable.

I followed her line of sight.

Alicia was coming down the stairs with Aimy in her arms.

When I looked back, Karen had already schooled her features into their usual calm.

"I’ll take my leave now, sir," she said.

And before I could respond, she hurried out—far more quickly than usual.

"Uncle!" Aimy cried, wrapping her arms around my leg.

She had recovered so much that she no longer needed to be carried everywhere. I crouched and lifted her into my arms.

"Good morning, Uncle."

"Good morning, sweetheart. You seem to be in a good mood today."

She nodded enthusiastically.

"You promised to draw with me today, remember?"
