My Child and I Married a Billionaire novel Chapter 159

Chapter 159: Chapter 159: Don’t Think You Can Force Me With Such a Childish Trick

The next morning, Damien Vaughn was woken by a series of knocks on his door.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK...

"Sir, are you awake? Breakfast is getting cold. It’s not good for you to eat this late. Why don’t you eat first and then go back to sleep? If you really don’t want to get up, I can bring it up for you. Sir, can you hear me?"

Damien was a man of regular habits and never slept in. He was surprised to be waking up so late today.

Hearing Ms. King’s voice, he was instantly awake. He raised a hand to rub his forehead and started to sit up, but when he moved, he found his other arm was pinned down.

He instinctively looked down and saw a woman’s face resting on his shoulder.

’It’s not Cecelia... It’s Gwen Morgan?’

Before Damien could figure out what was going on, Mrs. Vaughn pushed the door open and walked right in.

"He’s sleeping soundly. Knocking like that won’t wake him. I’ll go in and get him."

"Damien, son, why are you so sleepy today? No matter what, you have to eat breakfast..."

Mrs. Vaughn walked to the foot of the bed, and when she saw the two people in it, her eyes widened.

"Gwen? Why didn’t you go home last night? No wonder Damien... You two are..."

Gwen Morgan pretended to rub the sleep from her eyes, looking first at Mrs. Vaughn, then up at Damien Vaughn.

Meeting his sharp gaze, she immediately blushed.

"Auntie, why did you come in so suddenly? This is so embarrassing. I wasn’t planning on staying the night, but Damien insisted I couldn’t leave, and well..."

Mrs. Vaughn feigned embarrassment as well. "If I’d known you were in here, I never would have come in. I’m so sorry. Don’t be shy. What’s done is done. You’re both unmarried, so an old auntie like me can understand. I won’t disturb you two any longer. If you want to keep sleeping, go ahead. If not, I’ll have breakfast sent up."

As she said this, she turned to leave. Damien Vaughn pushed Gwen Morgan away, sat up, and called out to his mother in an icy voice.

"Don’t go yet, Mom. I fell asleep last night, I wasn’t drunk. I haven’t forgotten what happened. Do you really find it amusing to use such a childish trick on me?"

"What?"

Mrs. Vaughn turned back in disbelief.

"I used a childish trick on you? What’s that supposed to mean?"

"You know what I mean."

Damien Vaughn stared at her, his expression blank.

"I have never had those kinds of feelings for Gwen Morgan. I’ve seen her as a friend since we were kids. If anything was going to happen between us, it would have happened long ago. I wouldn’t need you to wait until today, and I certainly wouldn’t need your constant reminders. So from now on, stop trying to force us together, and stop using these pathetic tricks."

"I may not be married yet, but I already have Cecelia and Candy. What you’re doing is not only disrespectful to Cecelia and Candy, but it’s also disrespectful to Gwen Morgan and me."

Mrs. Vaughn: "..."

She thought that by pushing him and Gwen Morgan together like this, he would wake up feeling at least a little guilty toward Gwen. She never expected this reaction!

Mrs. Vaughn felt utterly humiliated, and also terrible for Gwen Morgan.

"Damien, do you have any idea what you’re saying? Is that any way to talk?"

"Last night, you were the one who insisted on calling Gwen Morgan over, and you were the one who refused to let her leave. Now, here you are, a man and a woman alone, undressed and in the same bed, and when you wake up, not only do you refuse to take responsibility, you say something like that? Have you... have you even considered Gwen’s feelings?"

Damien Vaughn glanced down at Gwen Morgan.

Her smooth shoulders were bare, and she was clutching the blanket tightly under her chin, her face a mask of shame, indignation, and sorrow.
