My Child and I Married a Billionaire novel Chapter 262

Chapter 262: Chapter 262: Fatal Curve

Cecelia Archer didn’t want to spoil everyone’s fun, so she made a last-minute decision to give them a day off.

The next morning, everyone changed into clean clothes. Two to a motorcycle, they excitedly headed into the county town.

The biggest and most luxurious hotel in town was only a 4-star. Cecelia Archer booked five rooms, and everyone took turns enjoying a proper shower. When they emerged, they felt like new people.

"I swear, when I get back, I’ll never complain about work being hard or my life being unhappy again. Coming home to a hot meal, having hot water, working somewhere out of the wind and rain—that’s true happiness. There’s nothing like a little hardship to make you appreciate what you have."

Seeing how the ordeal had made everyone lose weight, Cecelia Archer treated them to a feast.

After lunch, the group, who had been cooped up for far too long, were still eager for more. Not wanting to head back so early, they went to a KTV and sang for over three hours, only starting back from the county town at four o’clock.

Cecelia Archer was about to get on Lee’s motorcycle as usual, but Miller had already made his move.

"President Linden, I have a work matter to discuss with you. Get on my bike. We can talk on the way."

’Work stuff again?’

’We spent the whole day having fun and he didn’t mention work once. Now, when we’re riding motorcycles in the freezing wind, he suddenly has something important to discuss.’

Cecelia Archer didn’t want to, but with so many people watching, she couldn’t embarrass Miller by refusing.

"Your back injury just healed. The mountain roads are rough. Won’t I be a burden sitting behind you?"

"Not at all. My back’s been fine for a while."

As Miller spoke, he had already gotten on the motorcycle and started the engine, looking at her with an eager expression.

"Come on, get on."

Cecelia Archer could only brace herself and get on his bike.

VROOM—VROOM—VROOM—

One by one, the motorcycles took off.

They rode for a while without Miller saying a word. Cecelia Archer couldn’t help but ask.

"President Miller, didn’t you have something to discuss with me?"

"What?"

In truth, Miller was wearing a helmet, and with the cold wind whistling past his ears, he couldn’t hear Cecelia Archer at all.

When Cecelia Archer saw him dangerously tilting his head to try and hear her, she decided to just drop it.

"I said, slow down! There’s no rush; safety first. We can talk about whatever it is when we get back."

Miller nodded, and they rode the rest of the way in silence.

After riding for over an hour, the sky began to darken. They finally reached the turnoff for the village.

Everyone else had ridden faster than Miller and were waiting for him at the entrance.

When they saw Miller and Cecelia Archer arrive, they all chimed in.

"President Miller, why don’t you let President Linden get off? We can give her a ride."

Although they had repaired the concrete road, the weather was cold and it was setting slowly, so the motorcycles still couldn’t ride on it. On their way out, they had used the small dirt path alongside it.

In spots that were particularly difficult to navigate, you had to put your legs down to steady the bike. Miller’s back had just healed; they didn’t want him to overexert himself.

Normally, their concern would be a good thing, but President Miller looked displeased, as if his male ego had been wounded.

"I’m a grown man, you think I can’t even handle a young woman on my bike? Do I look like I need your help? Stop worrying about nothing! Go, go, go! It’s getting dark, what are you all dawdling for? Get a move on!"

Everyone was a bit speechless, but since he was the boss, no one dared to say anything more. They just continued on, one after the other.

Although Cecelia Archer was on the back of Miller’s motorcycle, she didn’t want to be anywhere near him. There was a gap of a good two inches between them.
