My Deceased Wife Wants a Divorce (Hannah) novel Chapter 498

When Mary returned home, she found Lionel wandering around the house, tapping on walls and fiddling with various antiques, looking for who-knows-what.

The servants saw his strange behavior and kept their distance, thinking he looked like he was possessed.

"What are you looking for? If you need something, can't you just ask a servant to find it for you? You've been back with the Rosenberg family for years and you still have no manners. Get rid of those poor-man habits you picked up from the outside. Do you think we keep so many servants just for show?"

Mary's face, eyes, and voice were dripping with disdain.

"I'm looking for Sandra."

He hadn't even noticed his mother had returned until she spoke.

Mary froze. "What? Who did you say you're looking for?"

"I'm looking for Sandra," Lionel repeated.

After hearing this, Mary was silent for a few seconds before walking over to the sofa and sitting down. A servant immediately brought her a freshly brewed cup of tea.

She took a sip, set the cup down, and said slowly, "You say you're looking for Sandra. And to do that, you're tapping and knocking and turning my house upside down, short of tearing it apart?"

Lionel nodded.

After listening to his explanation, Mary lazily lifted her eyelids and looked at him. "What's your point?"

Lionel explained, "It's highly likely Quennel sent this to me. And the helicopter that was supposed to bring Sandra back to the country belongs to him—it's registered under his name. I've already confirmed that. But I can't find where she's being held. I just asked him, but he won't tell me."

"And because he won't tell you, you've decided to tear the house apart? Is that it? Well, let me tell you, he didn't take her. You've been set up. Do you understand?"

Mary's voice grew louder as she pointed toward the door. "If you understand, then get out. If you don't understand, get out anyway. I don't know how I gave birth to such a stupid son. You spend all your time suspecting your own family instead of outsiders. What, does this family owe you something?"

Lionel never expected that his calm explanation would only make his mother more resentful and angry.
