As Sandra said this, a wave of intense fear washed over her.
Because even before Lionel had confessed everything, Hannah had already guessed that someone was behind the scenes, helping him strategize.
It would be simple for her to guess it was her, since Lionel trusts her so much.
The fact that Hannah could figure it all out just from Lionel's apology and confession proved how well she knew him.
Otherwise, she wouldn't have made the connection the moment he said what he did.
But Sandra had never expected Lionel to be so foolish as to admit it.
If only Lionel had denied it back then, stuck to his story that he'd come up with the idea himself, everything would have been fine.
Why did he have to confess?
He's sharp as a tack most days, but pull a move like that when it counts? Seriously?
Seeing Sandra's constant accusations, a surge of anger rose in Lionel, and he spoke in a low, tense voice.
"If I want to reconcile with Hannah, I have to tell her everything without holding back. If I deceive her, she'll just bring it up again later, accusing me of being insincere. Wouldn't that just lead to another fight?"
After hearing this, Sandra gave him a long, meaningful look. She opened her mouth as if to speak, then slowly let out a breath and closed it again.
She stopped listening to him, even turning her head away to pick up a glass of water from the table.
"Hannah will inevitably think there's still something going on between us. Otherwise, why wouldn't you let me leave? Only when we completely cut ties and never see each other again will Hannah believe that you and I are truly over."
"That's the only way you two will have a chance to reconcile. But you told her you asked me for advice! In everyone's eyes, I'm not your friend; I'm your mistress, the other woman. To please your wife, you go to your mistress for help. Tell me, who could accept that? Even I couldn't accept it!"
Furious, Sandra let out a long torrent of words, pouring out all her frustrations before finally letting out a relieved sigh.
"But you were the one who told me you'd help me strategize, right?" Lionel said.
"I said I'd help you, but I never told you to tell Hannah about it! As long as you kept your mouth shut and denied everything, Hannah would never have known."
She gave Lionel an exasperated look and rolled her eyes. "Your relationship could have slowly improved, I could have gradually faded out of the picture, and everyone could have moved on with their lives. You could handle your own affairs, and I could finally leave the country. That was my original plan."
