"Am I your man? Am I your spy planted in the Temple family? No wonder Hannah said you're insane. You really are. I thought you called me here for something important, but it turns out you just want to pump me for information about Hannah?"
Samuel blinked, then laughed out of sheer anger. "Does that seem normal to you? Don't waste my time. If you have something to say, just say it. Do you really think asking me about her is going to work?"
He had thought Lionel called him over for something so important that Hannah couldn't know.
He never expected him to be trying to get information about Hannah, as if speaking to him nicely in private would make him spill everything.
Samuel looked at him and said earnestly.
"Has it ever occurred to you that besides Hannah, I'm the person who most wants you two to get divorced? I want to see Hannah's life get brighter and brighter while yours gets more and more miserable, leaving you to wallow in envy."
"Given that's my mindset, how could I possibly tell you anything about Hannah? I'd have to be out of my mind. You're wrong, no normal person would ever tell you."
Hearing Samuel's indignant outburst, Lionel's expression remained unchanged.
He said calmly, "I know this is bizarre, but I just want to know what Hannah's attitude towards me is right now."
Samuel glanced at him but didn't speak. He just silently took a sip of his coffee and let out a long sigh.
A few seconds later, Samuel shot him another look, still remaining silent, just sitting there watching him.
Lionel was now asking him about this so sincerely. Honestly, Samuel had no idea if this was another one of Sandra's schemes.
Lionel could see what he was thinking and quickly explained.
"My meeting you here today was purely my own idea. It has nothing to do with Sandra."
Lionel clarified, "I didn't ask her, so you can rest assured. I just really want to know if I cut all contact with her and stop listening to her, will Hannah forgive my past mistakes?"
Samuel simply maintained his silence.
He was even tempted to pull out his phone and play a round of a game. This was a complete waste of his time.
He had thought he'd get some useful information by coming here, but he got nothing at all.
