“If I can solve this problem for you, if I can make him stop harassing you, you have to promise to put in a good word with Grandma and Grandpa. Give my parents some more opportunities. I’m just trying to help them.”
Hannah, who had been quiet until now, finally spoke up. “You help me, and I’ll help you.”
At Hannah’s words, a spark ignited in Cherry’s eyes.
“I’m starting work soon, and I really don’t want to see that man at home. In short, you have to block him for me. Don’t let him near the house or the office to disrupt my work.”
Any interruption meant she would have to stop what she was doing to deal with his mess, and Hannah refused to let a man jeopardize her career.
Love and marriage were supposed to be a small part of her life, but because of him, the drama was now consuming eighty percent of her time.
The only reason she was managing was because she was an efficient worker and reported directly to Mr. Taylor.
If she worked for anyone else, she probably would have been fired by now.
After all, who would want to employ someone who was a magnet for scandal, someone whose mind was clearly on anything but her job?
“Since you’ve said so, Hannah, I promise I will handle it! During your commute, you won’t see him. I’ll have people make sure he’s kept away. He won’t show up anywhere near your home or office.”
“With you on the job, I can finally relax. Do a good job. I have full confidence in you!”
Without another word, Cherry strode out excitedly.
Samuel shook his head in weary amusement. “But if even someone like Cherry can’t stand him, you know he’s truly off the rails. Hannah, it’s a good thing we weren’t home today. We would have been driven mad.”
Hannah nodded. “Definitely. I’m just glad Cherry is handling it for us now. We can finally focus on our work.”
The thought that someone else would now be dealing with Lionel whenever he showed up was a massive weight off her shoulders. She felt like she could finally breathe and rest for a while.
“By the way, Hannah, this letter came for you today,” Samuel said, holding up an envelope. “There’s no return address. A courier just dropped it off and said it was for you.”
Hannah took the envelope, tore it open, and found a handwritten letter and several photos inside.
Samuel glanced at the photos, and his eyes widened in shock.
