“Pull up the security footage from the front gate,” Hannah said.
The moment she said it, Samuel and Cherry understood.
Samuel immediately got up, went to the security room, and pulled up the footage for Hannah.
The three of them sat on the sofa, watching the surveillance video on the screen.
It didn't take long for them to spot the discrepancy.
Cherry pointed at the screen. “That courier is completely different from the one who came the last two times. This one just looks like a regular delivery guy.”
Samuel noticed it too. He immediately made a phone call and sent a screenshot from the video.
“Find out who this guy is, right now. Let me know as soon as you have something.”
“See? Your theory was probably wrong,” Samuel said, turning to Cherry. “If it was really them opening and resealing it, they would have used the same courier. There's no reason to send a new person and complicate things.”
Samuel lifted his chin smugly and raised an eyebrow at Cherry. “In my opinion, this letter was almost certainly intercepted on its way here. Someone took it, read it, and then had it delivered.”
Given the circumstances, Samuel's explanation made the most sense, but there was still one problem.
Cherry looked at him. “It's just a letter, not anything valuable. What's the point of stealing it? And then delivering it afterward? That's just asking for trouble.”
If that was the case, it meant Lionel had indeed gotten a bit smarter. But to pawn off his problem onto Hannah… that was truly manipulative.
Sitting beside them, Cherry flew into a rage, pointing at the letter and cursing.
“If Lionel did this, he's worse than an animal! He gave you the letter so you'd go fight with Quennel? That man is such a schemer!”
If they weren't sure that Lionel had never seen the first two letters and didn't know the handwriting, they might have suspected he'd hired someone to forge it himself.
But now, either conclusion pointed to one thing: Lionel was definitely up to something!
