“Lionel, you've been slandering me from the very beginning, and you're still at it. Hannah is her own person; she has a mind of her own.”
“Let’s say I did have feelings for her and decided to marry her after your divorce. Do you really think she would be forced to marry me? Couldn't she refuse?”
Quennel looked at him squarely, his composure unshaken by the accusations as he addressed Lionel's suspicions.
“Lionel, you cheated during your marriage, emotionally abused Hannah, and even conspired with your mistress to bully her. Now that Hannah is determined to divorce you, you're shamelessly clinging to her. Do you assume everyone in the world is as despicable as you are?”
Quennel laid out Lionel's transgressions one by one, giving him no room to save face.
“You…” Lionel was stunned. He hadn't expected the conversation to suddenly turn back on him.
“Don't try to change the subject, Quennel. I'm asking you, did you hire those people or not? Do you dare to swear on it? Do you dare to admit it?”
“You're the one who had a sordid affair and dragged Hannah’s name through the mud in the tabloids time and time again.” Quennel ignored his outburst and continued with his own point.
“Hannah doesn't need you anymore, yet here you are, shamelessly pretending to help her. You saw that I dealt with those people, and you got scared that she would be grateful to me, so now you’re trying to slander me. Lionel, you really will attack anyone, won't you?”

[Cherry]: I always thought Quennel was just some gentle, aristocratic type. I had no idea he was so sharp-tongued. Guess you can never really know someone.
Faced with Lionel’s escalating anger, Quennel just let out a cold, humorless laugh.
“If that's what you want to believe, then please, present your evidence. Prove that I hired those people and instructed them to go after you. But if you can't produce any evidence…”
Quennel deliberately dragged out the pause, his eyes half-closed as he stared at Lionel. He scoffed before continuing, “Then it proves you’re the one who orchestrated this whole thing. You were afraid Hannah would find out, so you decided to pin it on me!”
“Of course I have evidence!”
Lionel shouted, though a wave of anxiety washed over him. The so-called evidence wasn't in his hands, and the name on the letter, which should have been Quennel's, was now his own.
