Lionel had barely been seated for a few seconds when he heard their comments, and his brow furrowed deeply.
"We're here today to decide my future with this family. Is anything else really necessary?"
While the rest of the family deeply respected the elders, hanging on their every word and never daring to talk back, Lionel was a different story.
He had no time for their games and held no respect for their positions.
After all, they hadn't shown him a shred of kindness since his return, constantly trying to undermine him.
Lionel knew full well that they would praise him in front of Quennel just to put his brother down, yet they never had a good word to say to his face.
These old fossils saw everyone as pawns, commodities to be manipulated at will.
Lionel’s arrogant words hung in the air, stunning everyone in the room. They stared at him in disbelief.
Quennel and Mrs. Mary Rosenberg nearly burst out laughing.
They knew Lionel had always despised the elders, but to be so defiant at a time like this? Was he not afraid of being thrown out of the Rosenberg family for good?
Just yesterday, Quennel had laid out the grim consequences of being exiled from the family, yet here Lionel was, spouting the same insolent nonsense.
Mr. Michael Rosenberg gripped his cane and rose to his feet as well. "Three years have passed, and you're still as wild as ever. If that's the case, you're no child of the Rosenberg family. Once the paperwork is finalized, we will hold a press conference to announce your departure."
"From that day forward, nothing you do will have any connection to us. And if you dare utter the Rosenberg name outside these walls, we will pursue legal action to the fullest extent!"
After the two elders spoke, the atmosphere in the living room became suffocatingly tense.
Quennel hid a smile behind a facade of concern, quickly interjecting, "Lionel, what's so hard about greeting the elders? Have you no respect for them? Don't be so arrogant. Get out now!"
Mrs. Mary Rosenberg shot Lionel a venomous look. "Get out and come back in properly! Otherwise, it'll be too late for regrets. Leaving this family will do you no good. Don't let your pride ruin you, do you hear me!"
