39 Chapter 39 Caught in Her Web
Marcus’s POV
The satisfaction I felt after sentencing Victor to a decade behind bars was immense. had announced to the entire pack that he faced charges for sexual assault, caught red–handed by one of my warriors. We kept the victim’s identity sealed to protect their privacy. Without that detail, the pack celebrated my decision wholeheartedly. There was no way I would let Victor escape punishment for what he did to Elena. However, Viviana’s sudden engagement announcement completely blindsided me.
I had explicitly told her we needed to keep this quiet for now. She clearly didn’t give a damn about my wishes. She couldn’t contain her excitement about becoming the pack’s future Luna.
Then came the party. I never consented to any celebration. She cornered me completely. She would pay for this once everyone cleared out.
My eyes found Elena at the back of the gathering, devastation written across her
features.
Every instinct screamed at me to rush over and explain everything. I wanted to reveal the real reasons behind all these decisions.
She understood the situation with Viviana’s uncle and the political complications, but she remained in the dark about everything else.
Jett stood beside her, offering comfort and support.
A low growl began building in my chest.
Viviana approached and seized my hand, pressing her palm against my chest. She was close enough to hear my threatening sound, and she gazed up at me with those supposedly innocent eyes. But I saw through her act now. I recognized her for what she truly was a manipulative schemer who would destroy anyone to get what she wanted. She always had.

I should have been the one consoling Elena, assuring her that everything would work out. Instead, she spun around and disappeared before I could reach her.
More pack members arrived, and Viviana grabbed my hand, dragging me around the packhouse where she had already stationed workers to prepare for this celebration.

Had she orchestrated this entire event without my knowledge?
“Hugo. What the hell is going on?” I demanded, approaching my Beta.
“She claimed you two were engaged and wanted a party as soon as she returned to the pack today. She ordered me to start preparations. You seemed distracted all day, so it was simple to organize this without you noticing,” Hugo explained with a gravel expression.
“You don’t seem thrilled about this situation,” I observed.
“I’m not a damn event coordinator. But she apparently thinks otherwise. I’m your Beta. Could you please clarify that to her?” Hugo requested.
“Don’t worry. I’ll handle this,” I assured him.
“What about Elena?” he whispered.
“I need to tell her everything. She has the right to know the complete truth, I said. “Alpha. She could be in danger if she learns what’s really happening, Hugo warned.
“I understand the risks. But I’m out of options. She witnessed Viviana’s announcement
out there.
“Damn. Elena has really affected you. I knew you wouldn’t be able to maintain that emotional distance you always claimed you’d keep, Hugo said with a knowing smirk. “The situation has become far more complicated than that,” I admitted.
Hugo studied me with suspicion. “I spent last night with her,” I confessed.
He looked at me the way a disappointed father would regard his wayward child. Genuine disappointment filled his expression.
“I know the entire pack despises Elena and her mother, but we both understand it’s complete garbage. They don’t deserve this treatment. And now you’re playing games with her emotions like some heartless bastard. If you spent the entire night with her, she knows exactly what that means. I wouldn’t be surprised if you just completely shattered her,” Hugo said.
“I’m aware. I have to find her immediately,” I said, turning to leave.
I began walking away when Viviana rushed over and grabbed my arm.
