Emily instinctively felt uncomfortable. Without turning her head, she replied, "What else would it be?"
The faint smirk on Andrew's lips vanished as his dark gaze fixated heavily on her retreating back.
Emily pushed the door open and immediately locked eyes with Beatty, who was waiting outside.
Beatty offered a faint smile. "Ms. Blair."
Emily gave her a polite nod and raised her IV pole, ready to leave.
Beatty glanced at the heavy metal stand in her hand and offered softly, "Would you like me to hold that for you?"
Taking a step forward, Emily shook her head. "No need. I've got it."
Beatty didn't press the issue. "Take care, then. I'll go check on him."
Emily nodded again and turned to head back to her own room.
When Beatty glanced inside the room, she paused. Andrew was lying on his side, his deep, brooding gaze completely glued to the doorway where Emily had just been standing. Only when her silhouette completely disappeared down the hall did he slowly withdraw his stare.
Beatty tilted her head slightly and happened to catch sight of Tristan rushing out of Emily's room down the corridor. Her eyes drifted downward, landing on the shopping bag in his hand. The logo belonged to an internationally renowned luxury jewelry brand.
She arched a brow but said nothing, silently stepping into the hospital room.
By the time she walked in, Andrew had already closed his eyes to rest. She shut the door behind her and approached quietly. "Mr. Lane, I'll be right outside. Let me know if you need anything."
Andrew hummed in acknowledgment and opened his eyes. The look he gave her was entirely different from the intense gaze he had reserved for Emily just moments ago.
"Cancel whatever meetings you can at the company," Andrew ordered flatly. "Keep only the critical ones and prioritize them. If something absolutely requires my presence, push it back or send an executive in my place."
"Right away, Mr. Lane."
