Chapter 34 Maggie
Damn! That skinny guy is actually a Level 2 Scout Ability User!
No wonder something felt off earlier. He must’ve used his ability on her.
Fine. If you mess with me, I’ll mess with you.
Let’s see who loses more.
Reina walked over to Idris, held out a cup of water, and gave a small smile. “Here, have some water.”
Ding! “Energy -1. Harvest successful. EXP +50. Gained Energy +2.”
Idris was just about to refuse when his head suddenly spun, as if he got hit with a mental attack.
He grabbed his temple and stared at Reina. “What did you do to me?”
The other two immediately got alert and stepped back, their eyes sharp.
Reina kept her hand out, looking totally confused. “What did I do? I didn’t do anything.”
Damn, is he really that sensitive? I should’ve harvested the other two first.
She ran over to the window and scooped up the magpie. “Maggie, did you do something bad again?”
The magpie tilted its head, looked around, blinked its little black eyes, and suddenly shrieked.
The sound was like metal scraping against metal-loud and piercing.
All three people at the door grabbed their heads and cried out, “Make it stop!”
Reina paused, then gently patted the magpie’s head, holding back a smile. “Good boy. That’s enough.”
This was a huge surprise. The magpie’s mental attack didn’t affect her at all.
Nice! I’m definitely keeping this pet!
Maggie stopped shrieking, flapped its wings, and used its beak to fix its feathers, like it was annoyed she’d ruffled its feathers.
Reina looked back at the three people. Their faces were pale, leaning against the door, breathing hard.
She set Maggie down and hurried over, looking concerned. She helped Ruby up first, then the other two.
“Sorry about that. My pet’s a little aggressive. Did it hurt you? Yeah, it gets me too sometimes. But don’t worry, you’ll be fine after a night’s rest.”
Ding! “Energy -1. Harvest successful. EXP +50. Gained Agility +2.”
Ding! “Energy -1. Harvest successful. EXP +50. Gained Energy +2.”

Chapter 34 Maggie
Nice. That haul was great. Her Energy shot up to 27.
And her Agility reached 22! Running away should be a breeze now.
“You… When there’s a team mission, go report to Falcon. Someone will brief you. I’m leaving.”
Ruby’s head was still pounding, and her body felt heavy. She didn’t dare stay any longer and quickly left.
The other two followed, stumbling as they walked.
Reina watched the three leave, her brows slowly knitting.
She shut the door, walked over to the magpie, and tapped its head. “You just got me into big trouble. Guess you’ll have to stick with me now.”
The magpie chirped twice and flew onto her shoulder.
“No objections? I’ll take that as a yes.”
She muttered to herself while looking for a rope, planning to tie its leg so she could take it with her later.
But before she could find one, the door was knocked again-no, more like slammed.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
“Open up! The corps has a mission! All Awakeners, come out and listen!””
Maggie got startled again and flapped over to the window, about to shriek. Reina rushed over and grabbed its beak.
“Shh! Don’t make a sound. You wanna get cooked and eaten?”
The magpie blinked, confused.
“Stay quiet, or I won’t be able to protect you.”
Reina walked to the door and opened it.
Falcon Mercenary Group again. They were like a bad rash that wouldn’t go away.
“You’re Reina Ashworth, right? You’ve been requisitioned by our corps. Come with us now.”
The mercenaries looked fierce, holding energy rifles aimed straight at her, as if they’d shoot if she refused.
“Fine. Let me grab my stuff,” Reina said, about to close the door.
One of them kicked the door hard and shouted, “We’ll watch you pack. Hurry up. No tricks!”
Reina’s face darkened. She turned back inside and packed her bag.
After putting everything together, she realized the magpie was gone.
She walked to the window and looked outside. Most of the mutant birds had already flown away, but some
