Chapter 7
As I spoke, I let my gaze drift pointedly toward the men still in the room.
Celeste’s eyes flared with rage.
“I told you, I have nothing to do with them!” she shouted.
“Stop making things up about me!”
She turned to Julian immediately.
“You have to believe me.”
Julian pulled her into his arms without hesitation, shooting me a warning glare.
“Arden, enough,” he snapped. “Stop talking nonsense.”
“She’s only ever been with me.”
“These men were obviously hired by you to put on a show.”
“And those photos and videos?”
“They were clearly fabricated.”
I nodded, biting back a smile.
My dear brother really was hopeless when it came to love.
Unfortunately for him-
I turned toward the doctor standing nearby, who looked like he was struggling to speak.
“Dr. Hale,” I asked gently, “is something wrong?”
“Julian cares so much about this baby. Please make sure Celeste is okay.”
At that, Julian stiffened.
“What’s wrong with the baby?” he demanded. “Dr. Hale, if you have something to say, say it.”
Dr. Hale looked deeply uncomfortable.
“The baby… the baby is fine,” he said carefully.
“But…”

He swallowed.
“But the child is not yours.”
“What?!”
Julian roared, shock written all over his face.
Celeste’s face drained of color as well. She shook her head violently.
“That’s impossible!” she cried. “You’re lying! I’ve only ever been with Julian!”
Dr. Hale sighed, clearly exhausted.
“I’m not lying.”
“Yesterday, I was called in because Celeste wasn’t feeling well.”
“When I arrived, Arden told me Celeste refused to be examined.”
“So, while she was asleep, I drew blood for testing.”
“That’s when I confirmed the pregnancy.”
He paused before continuing.
“At Arden’s request, I also ran a preliminary paternity screen.”
“The results show that the fetus is not biologically related to you.”
One of the men scoffed openly, shaking his head. That was all it took-the room erupted into whispers.
“Are you kidding? Her private life is that messy, and he actually believed her?”
“She was supposed to be so innocent-what a joke.”
“At this point, who even knows who the father is?”
Julian’s face grew darker with every word,
Celeste clutched his sleeve desperately, tears streaming down her face.
“I didn’t do anything,” she sobbed. “Please… believe me.”
For a moment, hesitation flickered in Julian’s eyes.
I cleared my throat softly.

“If you’re still unsure,” I said mildly, “you could always go to the hospital and do a full paternity test.”
The suggestion seemed to snap something into place.
Julian’s eyes lit up. He grabbed Celeste’s arm and pulled her toward the door.
“No!” she screamed.
“I’m not going!”
“This baby is yours! How can you doubt me?”
She cried as if she’d been humiliated beyond measure.
But this time, Julian didn’t slow down. His face was dark with fury as he dragged her forward.
“We’re doing the test,” he said coldly.
“If you’ve done nothing wrong, what are you afraid of?”
“And if you betrayed me,” he added quietly, “I won’t forgive you.”
I stayed where I was, watching them disappear down the hallway.
I shook my head slightly.
I had warned her. False accusations always come back around.
I turned to Dad and Mom, who looked utterly defeated.
I softened my expression and stepped forward to support them.
“Don’t worry,” I said gently. “If the baby is Julian’s, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.”
“And if it isn’t…”
