My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 172

Noah shot David a suspicious look, her hands on her hips. She didn’t trust him one bit, but she could also see the determination in Lily’s eyes. After a short silence, she sighed. “Alright then… call me if anything happens, okay?”

Lily nodded. “I will.”

Noah gave one last glare at David before she got into her car. “Don’t try anything stupid,” she muttered as she started the engine. Then she drove off, her car disappearing down the street.

Lily stood there for a moment, watching her friend’s car vanish. The silence that followed was thick and uncomfortable. Without glancing at David, she turned toward the entrance and started walking.

David stepped ahead and pushed the glass door open for her. She didn’t thank him, just walked past as if he wasn’t even there.

Roy was already waiting by the elevator with the bags.

Roy pressed the elevator button, waiting quietly as the doors slid open with a soft ding. He stepped aside for Lily to go first, but she didn’t even glance at him or David just walked straight in, her face pale and cold. David followed behind, his jaw tight, his eyes fixed on her back. Roy could almost feel the storm brewing between them and decided to stay silent.

Inside the elevator, the silence was heavy. The only sound was the soft hum of the elevator moving up. Lily didn’t say a word, her gaze fixed straight ahead. David’s hand clenched at his side; every time she ignored him like that, it pricked his temper, but he held himself back. He reminded himself that she was hurt, that now wasn’t the time to argue.

When the doors opened, Lily walked out first and opened the door.

Roy set the bags down neatly near the couch. “All done, sir,” he said quietly.

“You can go,” David replied without looking at him.

Roy hesitated for a second, glancing between them. He could tell it was going to be one of those tense moments again. “Alright, sir,” he said finally, and left.

The door closed, and the silence returned thicker this time.

Lily walked straight to her room, pretending he wasn’t even there.

David followed her inside the room in slow, steady steps. His shoes made a faint sound against the floor, but Lily didn’t even look back. She walked straight to her wardrobe, her injured hand hanging awkwardly by her side in a white plaster cast. The faint smell of disinfectant from the hospital clung to her skin, her hair, and even her clothes a smell she couldn’t stand anymore.

She pulled open the wardrobe door with her left hand and stared at her clothes. “I need to change,” she muttered softly, mostly to herself. She reached out to grab a set of pajamas, but the fabric slipped from her grasp. She tried again, struggling to balance the clothes in one hand while the other stayed stiff and useless.

David took a step forward before he could stop himself. “Let me help,” he said quietly.

Lily flinched slightly but didn’t back down. “You heard me.”

Before she could blink, his hand was on her face, firm and unyielding, tilting her chin up. His fingers trembled, not from fear but from anger barely under control. “You think I’m someone else’s man?” he hissed, his eyes burning into hers.

Her heart hammered in her chest. “Aren’t you?” she whispered.

He didn’t answer. Instead, he leaned in and kissed her. It wasn’t gentle or tender, it was angry, rough, filled with emotions he couldn’t name or control. His lips crushed against hers, stealing her breath, claiming her in a way that was more about punishment than passion.

Lily pushed against him, her left hand trembling, but he didn’t move until he finally tore himself away, breathing hard. His voice came out low and raw, filled with warning. “Remember this, Lily… I’m your husband. Don’t ever say otherwise again.”

She stood frozen, her lips still tingling, her breath shaky. For a moment, the silence between them was deafening. Then she spoke, her tone cold enough to cut through steel. “Then divorce me,” she said, looking right into his eyes. “I’ve already sent you another set of papers. I’m sure you know about it.”

David’s eyes darkened even more. His jaw tightened. “I told you before,” he said slowly, dangerously calm, “I’ll never give you a divorce. So stop imagining that.”

Lily didn’t even blink. “Then I’ll get it myself,” she said firmly. “No matter what I have to do.”
