My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 269

“I tried to stay away,” he went on. “I really tried. I told myself I wouldn’t come near you again. But I couldn’t. I can’t imagine you with someone else. I waited seven years, Lily. Seven years, not knowing if you’d ever come back.”

His hands slid down, still holding hers, and then slowly he sank to his knees in front of her.

“I didn’t know if you’d return,” he said, looking up at her. “And even if you hadn’t, I wouldn’t have gone to you. But you came back. You came back to me. Even if it was only because of our son.”

He tightened his grip on her hands, like letting go would destroy him.

“Please,” he whispered. “Save me.”

Lily’s heart ached so badly it felt like it might break all over again. Seeing him like this, on his knees, crying, shattered something inside her. Tears poured down her face as she stood there, unable to pull away, unable to move.

She didn’t know if she could forgive him.

But she knew one thing.

Letting go was just as painful as holding on, so she decided to hold him.

Lily bent down before she even realized she was moving. Her heart was racing, her hands shaking, her thoughts a mess. She pressed a soft kiss to his lips.

For a second, David froze.

It was like the world stopped.

Then Lily pulled back slightly, barely an inch, as if she was giving him a chance to stop her. He didn’t. His hand shot up, gripping the back of her neck, fingers firm, almost desperate, and he pulled her back to him. His lips crashed onto hers, hard and hungry, like he’d been starving for years.

He stood up in one swift motion, pulling her with him, holding her tightly against his body. There was no gentleness now. No hesitation. His touch was restless, urgent, like he was afraid she might disappear again if he loosened his grip.

Lily’s knees went weak almost instantly.

Her lips parted under his, her breath breaking into small, helpless sounds. His mouth moved from her lips to her jaw, then lower, to her neck. His breath was hot against her skin. His teeth grazed her softly, not enough to hurt, just enough to make her gasp.

She tilted her head without thinking, giving him more space. Her body betrayed her before her mind could catch up.

“David…” she whispered, her voice barely there.

“I love you,” he murmured against her skin, the words rough and honest, like they’d been stuck in his chest for years.

He lifted his head and kissed her again, slower this time, deeper. Lily wrapped her arms around his neck, her fingers sliding into his hair, gripping it tightly. She pulled him closer, like she didn’t want even air between them.

When he lifted her, she didn’t protest. Her legs wrapped around his waist naturally, like they remembered this position better than her mind did. She felt the strength in his arms, the tension in his body, the way he held her like she was something precious and fragile at the same time.

As he started walking, her forehead rested against his, their breaths mixing. Every step made her heartbeat louder in her ears. She could feel how badly he wanted her, how much he’d been holding back for so long, and it sent shivers through her.

“David…” she breathed again, her voice shaking now.

He didn’t answer. He didn’t need to. His grip tightened slightly, his steps steady as he moved toward the stairs. He didn’t stop kissing her, didn’t give her a second to think. Her mind slowly went blank, the anger fading, the memories blurring, the years of pain slipping away under the weight of this moment.

She didn’t say it.

Her fingers tightened in his hair instead, her nails grazing his scalp. That small movement snapped the last thin thread of his control.

He walked the final steps and lowered her onto the bed, carefully, like she mattered. Like she always had.

As soon as her back touched the mattress, his hands were on either side of her, trapping her there without actually touching her. He looked down at her, breathing hard, like he was memorizing her face.

“You don’t know what you do to me,” he said quietly. “You never did.”

Lily swallowed. “You never told me.”

His jaw tightened at that. He bent down and kissed her again, slower now, deeper, like he was trying to pour his love for her into one kiss. She responded instantly, her hands sliding down his back, pulling him closer.

Time felt strange. Like it stretched and folded in on itself.

His lips left hers, trailing along her jaw, down her neck again. Lily arched slightly without meaning to, a soft sound escaping her throat. She hated how easily her body response him. Hated and loved it at the same time.

“Lily,” he murmured against her skin, her name breaking in his mouth. “I waited. I swear I did.”

Her chest tightened. She pushed at his shoulders lightly, not to stop him, just enough to make him look at her.

“ Then make me believe again, show me how much you want me,” she whispered.
