My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 282

“Mr. Grey,” Riyana said quietly.

She looked at him politely, professionally. That calm tone made his anger lose strength against his will.

“I already handed you my resignation letter,” she continued. “I’ll brief him on your work and schedule. I’ll leave in a few days.”

Her words landed hard.

Jabco clenched his teeth. She spoke as if nothing had ever happened between them. As if that night meant nothing at all.

“Riyana,” he said slowly, voice tight. “Do you really want to test my patience?”

He took a step closer. “Don’t you think we have something to talk about?”

Riyana pressed her lips together. Her hands were clasped so tightly that her fingers hurt, but her face stayed calm.

“Nick,” she said, turning slightly. “Please leave us for a moment.”

Nick nodded so fast it was almost funny and rushed out of the office. The door clicked shut.

In the next second, Jabco moved.

He came around the desk quickly and pushed Riyana back against it. Everything happened too fast. She did not even get time to react.

“Mr. Grey?” she whispered, she was frozen.

His face was close. Too close. His eyes burned as they searched hers.

“Riyana,” he said quietly, dangerously. “You really have nothing to say to me?”

Her heart was racing, but she shook her head.

“No,” she replied. “I don’t.”

She took a breath and forced herself to continue. “If you want to talk about that night, you don’t need to feel responsible. It was a drunk mistake. Nothing more. I forgot it the next morning.”

Each word cut deep.

Jabco’s expression hardened. His jaw locked. His eyes turned dark with anger.

The room felt heavy. The air between them was tight, filled with things neither of them wanted to say out loud.

“Drunk mistake?” he repeated slowly. His hand pressed harder against the table beside her, trapping her between his arms. “You think I can forget it that easily?”

Riyana met his gaze. Her throat felt tight but she forced herself to stay steady. “Yes. You should. It was wrong. It shouldn’t have happened.”

His lips curled into a cold smile.

“Then let’s make another mistake.”

Before she could react, his lips crashed onto hers again.

Riyana froze. Her eyes widened in shock as his mouth moved against hers, rough and desperate, nothing gentle about it.

For a second, her mind went blank. This was not happening. This could not be happening.

Then reality hit.

Her hands clenched into his clothes and she shoved him back with all her strength.

The slap came next.

Sharp and Loud.

The sound echoed through the entire office.

Jabco froze where he stood. His face burned, not from pain, but from the shock of it. He had never been hit like that. Not by anyone. Not ever.

Riyana didn’t wait for his reaction.

She turned, walked straight to his desk, opened the drawer she knew by heart, and pulled out the resignation letter. She slammed it onto the table so hard the papers beneath it shifted.

“Sign it. Now.”

Her voice was steady, but her eyes were sharp, cutting straight through him.

The room felt colder.

Jabco suddenly laughed once, sharp and humorless. "So this is your decision"

“Yes.” She looked down for a second, then back at him.

“For good?”

She nodded. “It makes things clear. For you. For me.”

He grabbed the pen from the table so hard that it almost slipped from his fingers.

Without looking at her, he signed the resignation letter. His signature was rough, angry, nothing like his usual clean strokes. He shoved the paper toward her and turned away, his back stiff. “You can go,” he said after a long pause. “Finish the handover and leave.”

Riyana took it from his hand at once. Her fingers brushed his for a second, but she did not pause. Not even for a heartbeat.

“Thank you, Mr. Grey.” she bowed her head slightly.

She walked toward the door. Her hand was on the handle when his voice stopped her.

“Riyana.”

She froze but did not turn around.

“This isn’t over,” he said quietly. “Not for me.”

Her grip tightened on the handle. “It is for me.”

She opened the door and walked out, leaving Jabco alone in the office, staring at the empty space where she had been, his fists slowly clenching again.

She went straight to HR, placed the letter on the desk, and said calmly, “This is my resignation.”

No drama. No explanation. Just facts. After finishing the formalities, she walked back to her desk like it was any other normal day.

She sat down and opened her laptop.

Her fingers moved across the keyboard. Emails. Schedules. Files. Work went on as usual, as if nothing had just happened inside that office room.
