My Husband’s “Work Wife” Is Just a SISTER? Let Me Teach Her How Family Trees Work novel Chapter 6

Chapter 6

On the screen, my mother-in-law’s eyes went wide as saucers. Her body sagged, then

the screen went black.

On the bed, Marco and Jolene finally reacted. The two of them shrieked like startled rabbits and grabbed the blanket to cover themselves.

“Lola! Have you lost your mind?!” Marco’s voice cracked with panic.

Jolene trembled behind him, her teary eyes showing over the blanket. “Lola… it’s not what you think… I…”

When they scrambled for clothes, I sat down on the couch with a cold smirk and opened the folder on my phone, the one packed with evidence.

Inside was everything the alliance girls had collected, all the dirt from Jolene’s past, all the times she’d played “sweet little sister” in different companies.

Chat logs, photos, internal termination notices… I zipped everything and attached a highlight reel from tonight.

Recipient: the full employee mailing list from Marco’s company, which I had collected.

Subject line: [Congratulations to Marco Aldrich and Jolene Gardner on their upcoming trending scandal-a special wedding anniversary gift]

The moment the “email sent” notification popped up, my hand trembled around my

phone.

But this time I was not afraid of losing anything. I was letting go.

All the humiliation, the accusations, the betrayal, everything I’d swallowed, finally had

somewhere to go.

I could already picture the office exploding when people opened the email, and senior management going livid when they saw the evidence.

I could also picture Marco and Jolene in the days ahead, panicked, furious, helpless.

The feedback came fast. Marco’s phone started vibrating nonstop.

After reading the group messages, he did not even bother pulling his pants on properly before stumbling toward me, trying to snatch my phone. “Lola Aldrich! Recall the

email! Recall it now!”

I twisted aside and watched his face warp. “Recall it? Why would I recall it? Isn’t this your anniversary gift to me? Of course I have to share the joy with everyone.”

“You vicious bitch!” he roared.

“Vicious? Compared to you two, I’ve got a long way to go.”

Jolene had gotten dressed by then. She rushed over and dropped to her knees at my feet, clutching my leg and sobbing. “Lola, I was wrong! Please forgive me this once! I’ll never do it again! Please recall the email, or my whole life will be ruined!”

She cried so hard she sounded truly repentant

I looked down at her, indifferent. “Whether your life is ruined or not has nothing to do

with me.”

I kicked her hands off my leg and turned toward the door. “Wishing you both a long life together, sharing an eternal ‘bond.””

When I walked out of the hotel, the night wind hit my face, cool and sharp.

Kiley came over grinning and slapped my hand in a high five. “Beautifully done. The internet is blowing up.”
