My Mates Chose The Other Girl novel Chapter 10

Chapter 10

I didn’t answer. I simply looked at them, calm and unaffected. Three years with Caspian, three years of island life and the kind of love that didn’t ask me to be anyone but myself-it had remade me from the ground up.

Motherhood had softened me in ways they wouldn’t understand, but it had also given me a quiet strength I never had

before.

Standing here now, I was someone they once knew-and someone they didn’t recognize anymore.

I let out a soft laugh and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. The motion pulled my collar aside just enough to expose the bite mark on my neck.

Caspian had left it there this morning, possessive and brooding over my trip. My hand instinctively raised to cover it as

soon as I realized.

But it was too late. All three of them were staring at the mark, their breathing gone harsh and uneven. There was no

point in hiding it anymore. I cleared my throat and picked my words carefully.

“It’s been a while. I’m just here to see my father. I won’t be staying long.”

“You’re leaving?” Rufus’s face went white. “You just got here. You’re actually going back to them? Elara, we messed up, we

I cut him off, my voice going cold. “I live with the Tideborn now. That’s my home. Why wouldn’t I go back?”

They had nothing to say to that. I turned my back to them and faced my father. “Dad, there’s stiff

old house, right? I’ll bring Caspian and Brook there. That way I can stay close.”

Stream behind my

Aquila’s voice broke the silence. “You’re staying in the old house?”

That house was full of memories-theirs and mine, all tangled up together. And now I was bringing another man there

to live,

I looked at them-really looked at them-taking in the exhaustion carved into their faces, and for a second, I almost felt

pity for them. But then I remembered; whatever pain they were in, I didn’t owe them anything. Not anymore.

I glanced at the angle of the sun. I’d been gone long enough. Any longer and Brook would be walling for me.

I said goodbye to Father and walked past the three of them, not saying another word. I made it halfway to the village

gate before I heard footsteps behind me and stopped.

“Are you planning to follow me the whole way?”

The last thing I needed was Caspian seeing them follow me like this. Rufus took a step closer, desperation in his eyes

“Elara, just hear us out-”

“Explain?” I let out a tired laugh. “Fine. Explain why you all look like hell when you’re supposed to be living happily ever

after with Ivy.”

Chapter 10

All of them flinched. Gale was the first to find his voice. “We were never with Ivy. It wasn’t what you think.”

I stared at him, my jaw tight.

“You left me for her. You told me she was better than me in every possible way. What happened? Did you get bored? Or

maybe she wasn’t as perfect as you thought.”
