Chapter 8
Her head hit the ground with loud, dull thuds, and soon, she had blood running down her forehead.
Even Mason finally lowered his proud head and submitted.
“Miss. Prescott, I was blind and arrogant. I hurt you, and I swear I’ll never do it again. I’ll never bully anyone again.
Please… spare me this once…”
After I finished my coffee, I placed the cup gently on the table. Then I looked around the room and said calmly. “Listen to you all, talking like I’m some kind of ruthless murderer. This is a society governed by law. How could I possibly do
something illegal?”
Kai spoke up cautiously, testing the waters. Then… is Miss. Prescott saying she’s forgiven this ungrateful fool?”
I smiled faintly.
“Of course. Although they did hurt me. I’ve already gotten my revenge. If we keep going back and forth like this, it’ll
never end. Let’s call it even.”
The two of them immediately fell to the ground, knocking their heads in gratitude.
I cleared my throat and added. “Not only am I forgiving you, but I’m going to grant you both a blessing.”
All three of them looked up at me in confusion.
“I asked around. Turns out, Aubrey is actually Mason’s girlfriend. The two of them just called each other ‘siblings’ because
Mr. Cruz didn’t approve.”
“Well then, I’ll help you two lovers finally be together. After you leave this place, head straight to the courthouse and get your marriage certificate. Within seven days, I want to see your wedding take place in Asteria City.”
Naturally, this announcement brought joy to some and dread to others.
Aubrey was overjoyed. She couldn’t believe that this disaster had actually fulfilled her dream of marrying into a wealthy family. Her face lit up-though, with that disfigured face, the smile only made her look more terrifying.
Kai, however, was clearly displeased.
He had never approved of Aubrey’s background or behavior. Mason’s recent disaster only deepened his distaste for her.
I looked at the three of them and asked, “Well? Can you do that?”
Eventually, they all nodded and gave me their promise.
I waved cheerfully. “Great! The car taking you to the courthouse is already waiting outside.”

They scrambled to their feet and rushed out, as if terrified that I’d change my mind if they hesitated a moment longer.
Mason and Aubrey-both filthy and reeking-were dropped off at the courthouse.
A staff member came over, trying not to gag from the smell. “Sir, Miss… is there anything I can help you with?”
Mason glanced at Aubrey, whose face was still horribly swollen like a pig’s head, and a surge of disgust stirred in his
heart.
But Aubrey was still lost in her fantasy, thrilled that she was finally becoming part of the Cruz family.
“We’re here to register our marriage!” she said eagerly.
The clerk had worked there for years but had never seen such an odd couple.
Most people dressed to impress on their wedding day, but these two looked like they had just escaped a natural disaster.
Mason, in particular, wore such a sour expression, it was clear he wanted anything but a wedding.
Still, it wasn’t the clerk’s job to question them. She dutifully helped them register and took what would go down in
history as the ugliest, most absurd wedding photo ever captured.
When my driver called to report that they’d successfully gotten married, I couldn’t help but feel a wicked little thrill.
Only, this prank of mine would last a lifetime.
A week later, their wedding made headlines all across Asteria City.
