Chapter 338 When He Got Drunk

The moment Taylor took his first bite, his eyes widened dramatically He licked his lips in disbelief, almost stunned by the flavor. “Crawfish is insanely good!”
Zachary grabbed another one, choosing the largest he could find, peeled it quickly, and slipped it straight into Jaden’s mouth.
Taylor tipped his head slightly and asked, “Jaden, isn’t it incredible?”
“Yeah, it’s really good.” Jaden tugged at him gently. “Go wash your hands,”
When Zachary noticed Matthew nearby, he immediately selected a plump crawfish, peeled it with an easy grin, and fed it to Matthew. He then lifted his glistening, oily fingers and lightly bumped Matthew’s arm. “Alright, come eat.”
Matthew dragged a grass cushion closer. “Sit here.
Zachary chuckled, teasing him. “Since when are you so considerate?”
Without answering, Matthew settled down beside him and began placing peeled crawfish onto Zachary’s plate one by one. “I’ll handle the peeling for you.”
Before long, everyone had completely fallen for the crawfish. The cave echoed with excited voices and constant praise.
The cubs formed a loose circle around a large basin, each with a fresh cup of juice placed nearby. They ate with such speed that it looked like they might choke on their enthusiasm, even daring to try the spicier pieces.
Donald glanced at Bruce and worried he might feel out of place, since crawfish eating wasn’t exactly a graceful affair. He was about to help peel some for him when he suddenly saw Bruce already working through one effortlessly–snap, suck, pinch, pull. His movements were fluid, precise, and surprisingly elegant, almost unnervingly fast.
Bruce turned slightly. “Is something wrong?”
Donald blinked in surprise, quickly shaking his head. “No, nothing. Do you want some juice?”
“Sure.” Bruce calmly wrapped the pasta around the crawfish meat and ate it, looking as if he had reached pure satisfaction.
At another table, Sean and the chief were deep in conversation. As they listened to the constant praise directed at Zachary, both men looked visibly proud. Their expressions softened further, and even Matthew received a noticeably warmer glance by association.
Matthew felt uneasy under his alpha’s odd stare. It was intense enough to be unsettling. He looked at the drink in front of Sean and wondered if the older man had already been drinking.
Turning to Lanny, he asked quietly, “Sire, make sure Alpha doesn’t drink any more of that drunken fruit juice.”

Lanny glanced up in confusion. “He hasn’t had any.
“Ethan and Daniel went to fetch it. They’re not back yet.

Hearing that, Matthew became even more puzzled. Was his perception off because the food was too good?.
Ian, meanwhile, was desperate to eat. Even though he had only just learned to walk, he moved faster than anyone could catch, darting around like a restless rabbit. “Ah! Ah! Ah!
“Eat!”
Kyle eventually picked him up and covered his eyes as if that would calm him down, carrying him toward the cave entrance where the rainwater collected so he could play.
Elias quietly peeled a plate of crawfish meat and, while Ian wasn’t paying attention, slipped a portion into Kyle’s mouth without a sound.
Although small, Ian was sharp. He immediately caught the scent, reached up, and tried to pry open his alpha’s mouth. “Ah, ah–eat! Eat!”
Kyle kept his lips tightly shut, which only made Ian furious. In a burst of frustration, the little one bit down hard on his alpha’s cheek.
In this world, cubs developed differently from human infants–likely due to their beast heritage, they grew at an accelerated pace.
Ian already had several teeth, and his diet mainly consisted of meat pastes, congee, and pasta.
The sudden bite made Kyle yelp in pain. “Ow!”
Elias quickly intervened, stopping lan. “No biting.”
Ian froze, cheeks puffed slightly, staring at his alpha’s face in silence for a moment. Then, unexpectedly, he leaned forward and planted a soft kiss right on the spot he had just bitten.
“Oh…” Kyle melted instantly. Any annoyance vanished. He quickly peeled two plain crawfish tails, tore them into small pieces, and fed them to the cub.
After tasting it, Ian immediately started bouncing with excitement. “Eat! Eat!”
Elias washed his hands and reached out toward Kyle. “Go eat. I’ll hold him.”
Kyle laughed it off. “It’s fine, I can manage.”
When Elias returned to the table, he found a neatly arranged pile of peeled crawfish waiting for him. Zachary and Quincy smiled and gestured. “Eat.”
Daniel and Ethan soon came back through the rain carrying several jars of drunken fruit juice. In the past. the tribe rarely had such luxuries, but now that the market had opened, supplies were no longer scarce.
Zachary particularly loved the drink. It tasted like sweet wine, especially when chilled in cold water. He eagerly handed his cup to Matthew for a refill.

Zachary nodded enthusiastically. “Just à bit more.”

After that, whenever someone was holding a jar, Zachary would immediately push his cup toward them, not even realizing how much he had already consumed.
By the time the light–headed feeling set in, he was already swaying slightly, laughing foolishly.
Matthew had no choice but to lift him up and take him to the cave entrance to wash his hands with soap.
But the moment Matthew looked away, Zachary leaned forward into the rain, letting it splash onto him. After a brief shock, he even opened his mouth to taste it.
Matthew quickly pulled him back. “Spit it out.”
Zachary smacked his lips. “It’s sweet.”
Taylor leaned in, curious. “Really?”
Zachary nodded seriously, squinting as if it were a scientific fact. “It’s very sweet.”
Taylor, half–believing him, tried catching rainwater in his mouth too–until Jaden grabbed him by the collar from behind. “Don’t drink that.”
Lanny walked over softly. “Zachary,”
At the sound of Lanny’s voice, Zachary, clearly dazed, stretched out his arms and clung to her. He buried his face against Lanny and whispered just one word. “Mom…”
