Chapter 841 An Unexpected Visitor

After disembarking from the bus, he still had one more leg of the journey–switching onto the subway. Since the station exit wasn’tclose to his apartment, Zachary opted for a shared bike instead. He had just pedaled up to the entrance of his residential complex when a parked police vehicle caught his eye.
A group of officers had already assembled near the security kiosk, while the elderly guard, half–deaf and confused, kept calling out, “What? What did you say?”
Zachary only gave them a brief glance before continuing forward. AM he wanted was to reach home, collapse onto his bed, and shut everything out.
Then, a voice he recognized cut sharply through the air behind him. “Sire!”
He turned instantly.
Jaden broke away from the officers and ran straight toward him.
For a brief moment, Zachary stood frozen. Then he opened his arms just in time, pulling the boy into a tight embrace. His voice came out uneven and hoarse. “Jaden… how did you get here?”
“Where is your alpha?” Zachary added quickly.
“I don’t know where he is either.” The child lifted his head from Zachary’s shoulder and pointed toward the officers. “I told them about the place you mentioned before.
“That’s why they brought me here.”
The officers exchanged looks, then shifted their attention to the white–haired teenager. One of them stepped forward. “Are you this boy’s brother?”
Zachary straightened slightly but kept hold of Jaden’s hand as if afraid he might disappear. “I’m his dad.”
“His dad?” The officer blinked in disbelief. “How old are you exactly?”
siratio
Zachary answered politely, adjusting his age upward without hesitation. “Thirty–two.”
The response only deepened their confusion. They turned back to Jaden. “Is he your dad?”
Jaden nodded immediately, as if there was no question about it at all. “Yes. He’s my dad.”
Their shared blue eyes and near–identical facial features made the connection obvious, yet the claim still felt hard to accept.
Sensing their hesitation, Zachary offered a calm smile. “There’s mixed ancestry in our family.
“That’s why we have blue eyes.”
“Oh, I see” The officers relaxed slightly and even chuckled. One of them issued a friendly reminder. “Still, you should be more careful. It’s dangerous for a child to be out alone.
“Luckily, someone called the cops.

“It would also help if he learned a contact number for emergencies.”
Zachary nodded repeatedly. “Thank you. Thank you for bringing him back safely.”
After the police departed, Jaden looked around with wide–eyed curiosity. “Sire, this world is so strange.
“I even rode inside that thing you call a ‘car‘ k moves faster than Alpha!”
Zachary gently ruffled his hair. “Jaden, how did you end up here?”
“I’m not sure.” The boy answered honestly. “I just woke up beneath a tree.
He pulled open his pocket, showing the items inside. “A lot of people surrounded me and gave me these.
“Oh, and there was a fan too, but I think I left it in the car.”
Zachary took his hand again. “We’ll talk later. Let’s go home first.”
By the time evening fell, the streetlights in the complex turned on automatically. Jaden startled at the sudden glow and looked up. “Sire, are those candles?”
“They’re lights,” Zachary explained patiently. “They work like candles, but they run on electricity.
“That’s a trash bin. We throw away things we don’t need there.
“That’s a motion–activated lamp. It turns on when it detects sound at night.
“And those are stairs.”
On the way back, Zachary answered every question Jaden asked, patiently explaining even the smallest things.
Once inside the apartment, Zachary opened the door and gestured inside. “Go ahead.”
Jaden copied him, slipping off his beast–hide shoes. His small bare feet touched the floor tiles as he clutched his yellow duck hat, eyes scanning every corner of the room.
“It’s cold.” Zachary knelt and pulled out a pair of slippers from the shoe rack. “Wear these.
“I’ll get you your own pair tomorrow.”
The moment Jaden sat on the couch, he leaned forward and poked the cushion, stunned by its softness.
With some ingredients still in the fridge, Zachary decided to cook for him. Worried the boy might get restless, he turned on the television and switched to a cartoon channel.
When the sudden sound came from the screen, Jaden instinctively recoiled toward Zachary,
“Don’t be afraid. That’s the TV I told you about.” Zachary demonstrated the remote and placed it in Jaden’s hand. “Try it.”

Jaden’s eyes widened in fascination as he focused completely on it.
“I’ll cook dinner. It’ll be ready soon,” Zachary said with a faint smile before heading into the kitchen with eggs and pasta.
Not long after, a low growl came from the living room. Zachary rushed out immediately.
Jaden had shifted into his beast form, baring his teeth and hissing at a tiger on the screen. A moment later, realization seemed to hit him–there was no real threat. He settled back onto the couch, ears perked and head tilted in cautious curiosity.
Zachary’s chest softened instantly. He walked over, cupped the fluffy head, and kissed it repeatedly.
In his black panther form, Jaden’s long lashes fluttered gently every time he blinked.
