Chapter 74 The White Tiger’s Invitation
“My companion is close by,” Zachary replied, though his attention kept slipping back to the fluffy ears. Is he a therian? He just said he’s from the White Tiger Tribe, so does that mean his beast form is a giant white tiger?
Zachary had never once seen Matthew leave his beast ears exposed while in human shape, which only made this even more intriguing
Hubert noticed the way the sub–therian kept staring, and heat quietly crept into his face. This sub–therian is unbelievably pretty. So cute it almost doesn’t feel real. His eyes are bright and clear like the sky, and hisflashes are long and thick.
Hubert stared longer than he meant to.
By the time he came back to himself, he had already forgotten why his brother had sent him out in the first place.
At that moment, Zachary found himself imagining Matthew with a pair of soft black ears resting on top of his head.
The image was so vivid that the question slipped out before he could stop it. “How come your ears can stay out like that?”
A smile lifted Hubert’s lips them?”
he stepped closer and tilted his head toward Zachary. “Do you want to touch
“You sure?” Zachary hesitated.
Hubert confirmed, “Of course.”
Zachary had been curious for a long time. Since Hubert agreed so quickly, he reached out and lightly pinched one of the ears.
It’s so soft, he wondered. What would Matthew’s ears feel like?
Hubert blinked shyly, his smile turning brighter. “How is it?”
“N–Not bad,” Zachary answered.
The only tiger ears he had ever touched belonged to a cub at the zoo, one that had still been nursing.
“Do you want to touch this too?” Hubert turned slightly as his tail appeared behind him. It was long and thick, covered in white fur with black markings that matched his ears.
Zachary had never touched a tiger’s tail before. The hand he had just withdrawn itched to reach out again immediately.
“You can touch it.” Hubert’s smile grew wider.
He even flicked the tail forward until it brushed right against Zachary’s hand.
The muscle beneath the fur felt taut and powerful, yet the outer coat was sleek and smooth. When Zachary ran his hand downward, the tuft at the end brushed against his palm like a calligraphy brush.

Chapter 74 The White Tiger’s Invitation
It felt surprisingly good.
Hubert caught the look of astonishment on Zachary’s face and bent down a little. “I can turn fully back into a tiger, too. You can pet me then.”
Huh? He’s really that enthusiastic? Zachary felt slightly stunned. He’s still half in human form, yet he’s offering himself so openly. His eyes are so bright they almost seem to shine. He honestly looks like a puppy asking for attention.
Is this some kind of normal show of friendliness here? Matthew and the others have never done anything like this.
Even so, the idea of touching a real tiger was hard to resist.
He asked. “Wouldn’t that be inappropriate?”
“Pretty?” Hubert laughed so hard that sharp tiger fangs showed at the corners of his mouth.
His tail swept lightly behind him while he blinked innocently. “You are pretty too. You are the most beautiful sub–therian I have ever seen.”
“My full beast form looks very good too,” Hubert continued, “My sire loves rubbing my head. He thinks it feels wonderful.”
While speaking, he started removing his beast–hide–clothing, clearly preparing to shift into a tiger.
“No, that isn’t necessary.” Zachary stopped him at once.
The tigers he had seen in the zoo had already been huge. A tiger from this world would almost certainly be even larger.
No matter how tempting it sounded, Zachary had no intention of gambling with his own life.
They had only just met.
If Hubert changed fully, what if instinct took over? What if he suddenly saw Zachary as prey?
One bite would be enough to take half his body off.
“Oh.” Hubert paused, visibly disappointed. “Alright.”
Before the awkwardness could settle, a wolf shot out from the brush.
Its dark body lunged straight for Zachary without warning.
Hubert moved before Zachary could react.
He grabbed him and pulled him aside in one swift motion, then shifted instantly into a gigantic white tiger

The wolf had looked vicious a moment earlier. The second it hit the ground, however, it tucked its tail and fled in panic.
Wolves moved in packs. Hubert worried that leaving the sub–therian alone here would be dangerous, so he

chose not to chase after it.
Zachary pressed a hand against his chest. His heartbeat pounded so hard it almost hurt. The fright had not passed yet, and his limbs still felt cold, stiff, and numb.
If that wolf had come even a little closer, it would have torn out his throat.
The foul, musky stench still lingered in the air, mixed with the sharp scent of blood.
Since arriving in this world, this was the first time Zachary had felt death so clearly and so directly.
He had lived in the Black Panther Tribe for so long that he had nearly forgotten the truth. This was still a primitive world, full of wild beasts and danger waiting in every corner.
The white tiger saw him standing there in a daze and padded over. Its large, rounded head nudged gently against him.
Is he really frightened that badly? he thought.
Warm breath fanned across Zachary’s face. Even knowing he had just been saved, having a tiger this close made every muscle in his body tighten on instinct.
A low. deep rumble vibrated
Beside his ear.
Zachary met those pale purp
eyes and finally realized it was Hubert. He released a shaky breath and forced a smile. “Thanks for saving me.”
The great white tiger lowered himself onto the ground, leaned closer, and swished his tail invitingly, as if still hoping Zachary would pet him.
At that same time, Matthew caught an unfamiliar scent and hurried over. The first thing he saw was Zachary’s hand resting on a white tiger’s head.
A low roar thundered through the trees and shook loose trembling leaves.
The black panther lunged without hesitation, baring his fangs as he threw himself at the white tiger with unmistakable hostility.
Hubert was caught off guard, but his reaction was still quick. He dodged at once and turned toward the sub- therian immediately.
