Chapter 2
I spent the entire night thinking about the Andreotti family.
They operated in extreme secrecy.
My future husband, Vito, was the Mafia’s chosen successor to be the next Don. Nobody knew what he looked
like or even how old he was.
I might arrive in Italy and find out I had married a man much older than I expected.
In my previous life, Vivian cried her eyes out when she was sent off to Italy for the marriage alliance.
She ran back home less than two weeks later.
Although Father cared for her deeply, he didn’t want to anger the Andreotti family, so he sent her back.
No one expected Vito to use her for target practice.
He frightened her so badly that she suffered an asthma attack. She died on the spot.
From that moment, Vivian stayed in Liam’s thoughts, and it made him resent me even more.
Now that I was the one being sent to Italy, I had to prepare carefully.
At the very least, I had to improve my shooting skills.
The next morning, I went to the shooting range.
I put on earmuffs and protective goggles and trained with a pistol for three straight hours.
Liam suddenly barged in. He grabbed my weapon and yanked it away. His grip on my wrist was so tight I
thought it might break.
“Do you hate Vivian that much? Do you have to force her to go to Italy and die?”
The pain drained the color from my face. I shoved his hand off me.
“What does that have to do with you? Get out.”
He grabbed my shoulders, almost pleading.
“Vivian is fragile and has asthma. Sending her away could seriously harm her. Isabella, when did you get so
heartless?”
“Do you know she was terrified last night and didn’t sleep at all?”
“She still has a high fever. And you’re just here practicing shooting like nothing happened?”
He suddenly dropped to one knee and returned the gvn he had taken.
“Please, talk to your father and call off the arranged marriage. If you protect her, I’ll marry you.”

I had already decided to grant him his happiness.
Yet he used my love for him as leverage, treating marriage like a bargaining chip to pressure me. I hated that.
I took my gvn back and lifted his chin with the barrel.
“And if I refuse? What are you going to do? Kill me?”
Liam’s anger flared. He stood up and seized my shoulders.
“Isabella, don’t think forcing Vivian away will make me marry you. I will never marry a selfish and vicious
woman like you.”
“Even if your mother were alive, she’d probably think you’re heartless for not protecting your own sister.”
The hatred in his eyes instantly took me back to our previous life.
We used to scream at each other over Vivian, cursing one another to miserable deaths.
I knocked him down and aimed my gvn.
Bang! The bullet whizzed past his shoulder and hit the floor.
“Liam, you have no right to talk about my mother.”
When I was seven, I brought him into the family and begged my mother to support him financially.
He promised her that he would take good care of me.
Because I was the Moretti family’s designated heir and might one day be injured, he decided to become a
doctor.
But everything changed after Vivian, the illegitimate daughter, was brought back.
Liam clearly didn’t expect me to shoot.
When he saw the tears in my eyes, he finally realized he had gone too far. “I’m sorry… Isabella…”
I twisted to the side to pull away from him.
