My Runaway Groom Came Back I Became His Aunt! novel Chapter 50

Chapter 7

Those words… once. they would have ripped me apart. But now, all I felt was irony.

I simply didn’t care anymore. When a heart heals, it stops bleeding. And when love dies, it dies quietly.

Maggie wrapped her soft little arms around my neck. “Mommy, let’s go home. It’s cold outside.”

Chance stroked her hair with gentle indulgence. “Let’s go, my two princesses.”

I smiled and followed him back into our warm little home. The arguments behind us grew faint and finally disappeared.

I never looked back again.

Later that night, Chance wrapped his arms around me from behind, resting his chin on my shoulder.

“Now that he knows, he murmured. “I’ll make your and Maggie’s identities public tomorrow, alright?”

He paused, his tone softening with pain. “I don’t want you to suffer anything anymore.”

I turned in his arms and leaned against his chest. Kristen’s earlier comment flashed through my mind. That reality

show… I think it’s the perfect stage.”

Chance blinked, then understood. A slow smile curved his lips, and he pressed a kiss to my neck. “Whatever you want.”

I slept peacefully that night. The next day proceeded as usual. After finishing my piano lessons, I went to Maggie’s

classroom to pick her up.

But when I opened the door, the room was empty. My heart seized. My hands trembled as I dialed Chance. “Chance…

Maggie is gone!”

Chaos sounded on the other end. “Nina, don’t panic. I’m coming right now. Trust me, Maggie will be fine.”

Within ten minutes, Chance arrived at the school.

He calmed me, even though I was on the verge of breaking down, and ordered his men to lock down the campus and

pull surveillance footage.

The footage showed a familiar figure standing at the classroom door. Deacon.

“He wouldn’t… My voice cracked. ‘He wouldn’t dare take my daughter-

Chance’s expression turned murderous. He pulled out his phone, his voice dropping to a deadly chill Find Deacon. Now

And send a message to the Carnera family. This means war.”

His tone carried ruthless promise. ‘If he touches my daughter, he will pay with blood.”

Five minutes later, a report came through. “Don Chance, Deacon brought the Principessa to a private clinic on the

outskirts of the city.”

A private clinic? Cold fear surged through me. Why would he take my daughter to a clinic?

Che

The car sped down the road, my palms slick with cold sweat. When we finally skidded to a stop outside the clinic, I jumped out before the engine finished cooling.

Following the directions, I found Maggie in a hallway. Deacon knelt in front of her, holding a plush toy. “You look just like

your mother. Don’t worry. I’ll send you home in a moment.”

I rushed forward and scooped Maggie into my arms. “Maggie! Are you hurt? Let Mommy see you!”

She giggled softly. “Mommy. I’m okay. This man knows you. I wasn’t scared.”

Then I saw a document in Deacon’s hand. A court-ordered DNA petition. He wanted to test Maggie. He didn’t believe she

wasn’t his child.

A cold laugh escaped my throat. I raised my hand and slapped him across the face. “Deacon, how dare you. Maggie is not

your daughter. You don’t even deserve a child with me.”

He stared at me desperately. “The results take a week, Nina… You divorced me one year before she was born. Isn’t that

too much of a coincidence?”

“Just give me a chance. Let me make things right for you and for Maggie.”

Make things right? He had taken Chance’s daughter. The Principessa of the Torvani family.

He wasn’t going to survive this.
